Easy on the gas Ant!
One of the benefits of the P38 giving you guess work below 50 miles, means i always keep at least a quarter of a tank. Presume your out of LPG?

Well did you make it? If you are sat waiting for the AA please ignore this message. I realise answering it could cause embarrassment. :D:D

watch u don't burn the intank pump out again ant :(
Cheers chaps....made it back, as I was reversing to park it did start to cough and stutter...

Just got back from filling it up with a 5 litre top up, which will get me to the pumps in the morning :rolleyes::oops:

Did forget your wallet again today

So its you causeing all the tailbacks on the m3:D
Unfortunatly not.....

I was stuck in said tailbacks for about 25 minutes, then went to move forward and pooof steam and coolant everywhere...pulled over to the side to inspect and wait for recovery.

With me sitting by the side of the road, I did get a few stern looks as if it was me causing the issue....but it was caused by a couple of large cranes driving at 1mph...!!! :D

Took 1hr 45m for free recovery, nice bloke, took me and the car to their compound in Bagshot/Windlesham then I called RAC to come and take me back to work where my tools are......the RAC turned up in about 30mins and the chap just cut the end of the pipe and reattached...all sorted....I could've done that if I had a screwdriver and scissors with me! but hey ho....got back about 20.50 so all in all about 4.5hrs out of the day!

You don't have much look with cars do you Ant :D did you manage to sort out your lighting problem ?
I have tremendous luck with cars.......bad luck that is.....No in seriousness, the failures I have seem to be just random ones that I seem to encounter. The Bimmer is Full Service History (verified by BMW) and the engine bay is very clean and looked after....raft of reciepts and is an ex-company car and maintained regardless of expense.

Reading some forums and internet research....it appears this hose is a common one to burst for no reason too from what I can gather....excerpt attached.

As for the lighting issue causing diagnostics failures.....it (touchwood) appears fixed.....it did it all by itself....now have full comms back using All Comms - but I am buggered if I know what was wrong in the first place....only thing I can think of is a hiccup in the K Bus that finally worked its way out!

That's weird, bloody Range Rovers:D fingers crossed for you then mate, it would be interesting if it comes back when it starts to get damp again:oops:

Atleast it was a cheep and simple to fix breakdown bit of a bugger haveing to wait so long for recovery no fun on a motorway.

Damn near 2 hours? Bugger that, when my CL went tits up on the M1 free recovery had one of their wagons with me before I got off the phone to my own recovery company (didn't realise I was in the FR zone). Had a nice chat with the chap, he had only been doing the job for a few months and every vehicle he recovered had been from the Big Three German marquees.

Yep, he had to come from their compound near which is on one side of a dual carriageway by St Peters Hospital....down to the big roundabout at the end.....round that and back up the otherside of the dual carriageway to the M25 Junction at Chertsey to join the North bound M25...then go along to J12 (M3) ..... head towards Sunbury Cross (J1 on the M3).....turn around at Sunbury and head back down the M3 towards the M25 Junction (J2) as I was just past the Junction and could only be reached by heading up the M3 from Junction 1 (Sunbury)........and all this in the middle of rush hour about 16:40 ...... on one of the busiest stretches of the M25 and the busiest section on the M3 (due to the road works)....hence the delay.

He did say they do try to get to the stranded vehicle within 20 minutes....he was very apologetic but I was not bothered, I sat by the side of the road on the verge, playing chess on the iPad and browsing Landyzone...
