Im complete noob when it comes to Land Rovers . Ive been a biker for a good few years, but hung up my leathers due to various reasons. Ive loved Land Rovers for a while now and am looking to get a Defender 90 (80's / 90's) . Im getting a little confused over road tax . Im hoping to spend up to £4000 , maybe £5000 , but a mates told me that the road tax is £500 a year !!!!!
Can anyone shed any light ??

Welcome. Its around half that amount, classed as a light goods vehicle so may not benefit from Budget proposal to reduce to £140 for all cars. Good luck sourcing a Defender, I'm a S3 owner. Go to Defender section for best advice on older models.

Welcome... I drive a '88 Defender and the road tax is 200 odd quid for 12 months, I think your mate maybe thinking of newer models which come into the new tax bands not sure they're 500 quid though but mine certainly isn't
