Hi all, ok.. so pulling over yesterday to take a phone call, turned off the radio.. ended the call and could hear running water.. ok so it was raining out.. but on investigation, i can hear the sound of water running from around the glove box area.. investigate more, and when i turn Off the Hvac fan it stops... and puzzled.. i turn it back on and sure enough i can hear it again..

so.. any thoughts ?

the aircon is turned off on the Panel because i don't work, and also stops the handbook symbol being displayed ..

puzzled of Yorkshire !!

ahh, now the AC condenser sounds more like it.. do you know how to find the exit pipes ?
i was wondering if it was the AC needed water draining from it...

cheers

Condensor is the AC rad which is fitted up front under tha slam panel in front of the main coolant radiator....not under the dash.....

The evaporator is under the dash somewhere....but you say you have the AC turned off as it doesn't work, so unlikely to be AC related!

do you have a damp carpet, drivers side up under the dash near the centre tunnel?

It could be the heater matrix O rings, or it could be holed....the gurgling is air being drawn in to it, or coolant getting out!

As it was raining it could be sunroof drains...they run down the 4 pillars,

I had a simimilar to running water sound from mine that was the reduction valve (that might not be the corrct name) for the AC refridgerant.

It's in the bulkhead behind the glovebox-ish?

When my AC gas level got low the valve made a kind of high pitch water trickle sound. It would also cause your book symbol to come on if the pressure in the system were too low.

Thing is you say you have the AC switched off, so the AC system shoudn't be running at all. I just thought I'd mention it just in case...

If it's fan related, could your fans just need a lube? Spray some WD up there and see if it stops.

Hi mate, now that sounds more like it!
Any thoughts on a remedy ? Drill a small hole somewhere?
The pollen filter housing is siliconed up, but not to say water can't still ingress.
Cheers

Water can follow the air in especially if the foam in the scuttle is missing. If the pollen filters are knackered that also lets water in, there are drains in the pollen filter housings that block. Had the same problem. Check the aircon drains and I suspect there may be an airbox drain but I do not know where it is, I emptied mine with an AquaVac, fitted new pollen filters and foam cleaned the drains in the housings and it's been fine since.

Thermostatic expansion valve?

Yep the foam is knackered, its been replaced once but didn't seam to last long. I will take out the filters and look in there.
Not sure about aircon drain or airbox drain location?
Cheers

Take the pollen filter housings out, there are drains in there. Aircon drains are up either side of the gearbox.
Next time, I will use expanded black aluminium instead of foam for the scuttle filter.
