Hi

Has any one fitted the wide arches but not lifted the suspension?

I have to park in a multistory carpark at work so lifting my disco is not possible but I want to fit the bigger arches to give clearance for bigger wheels and tyres. If any one could post a picture of this setup it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Simon

Measure the disco and measure the multistorey.entrance as that the lowest point.mine is lifted 2 inch on hd springs and 31 inch tyres and all i have to do is undo elbow for the cb ariel and turn on side.then loads of room so have a measure. To fit bigger tyres youd have fit and cut away alot of arch and it may still rub so have a measure and see how different

funnily enough I just did this,I need to take some pictures but will do over the next couple of days.
I'm really impressed with how it turned out, looks awesome and no unwanted side effects.
You'll need to cut a good chunk out of the side of your standard front bumper (if thats what you have) as well as cutting out for the arches, but it's all simple enough.
I'll update with pics soon.

Some pics would be good, I have already got a winch bumper fitted so that's not a problem. The bits that will need to be cut out for the arch kit are the bits that the paint is scabby so a win win there.

Cheers

Simon

Yeah, I've run that (with wheel spacers too) for a while. I've now put in a 2 inch lift but ran some 245/75/16 tyres with some White Tiger (I think) flares/arches which worked great. Could have probably got some 31's in but may have been pushing it (I'd chuck in some 20mm coil spacers :D)

Some pics of mine.

Wheels are 16 x 8 steel modulars with a 35mm negative offset.
The offset is important, this will put the wheel/tyre nicely in line with the outside edge of the extended arch, and also means you will not have to faff around with spacers or altering steering stops.

Suspension is stock, I fitted new Supergaz shocks and new standard springs whilst refurbishing, but decided not to lift.

I have owned a good few trucks over the years - only ever had one with a suspension lift and did not like the way it drove, seemed to wander all over the place! I'm sure it's probably not an issue if its done with caster correction etc to a good standard, but this experience kind of put me off.

Anyone doing this with a standard front bumper will need to cut a good chunk out of the side pieces, you will actually have to cut through part of the metal framework under the plastic, but don't worry, just paint the cut edge to stop corrosion and all ok.

Tyres I fitted are 265/75/16 Insa Turbo Sahara, they look great but do drone a little on the tarmac at high speed . Does not bother me as it's a weekend toy only, but you might want to consider a slightly less aggressive tread pattern if it's a daily driver.

Hope this helps!

Pete

They came from Devon4x4, but where an Oz import. But this was many years ago when I got them, pre 2003 iirc.

Devon4x4 still sell some other kits I believe.

My arches came from M&M 4x4.
They were a bit pricey as I went for the ABS plastic ones - you can get sets on Ebay for about £80 but they are in fibreglass and not so resilient.
