Hi ll been a while since ove been on here, but needa little help. My mate has an auto box fitted on his td5 and has developed a fault in which the dash board lights lash m and s. The car then will procced to gointo safe mode. He said he has noticed that it only seems to do it if he selects park. If he doesnt select park then eventially the fault clears. Strangely i put the nanocom evo on a while back looking for a different type of fault and it did throw up a fault code but at that time he wasnt experiencing lights or safe mode. So, can any one shed any light on what might be wrong. Ill try to get nano code again this weekend, although I dont know where the auto gearbox codes are described. Thanks in advance Mark.

Mines been doing something similar and is a faulty xyz switch.

Could be a couple of things, could be XYZ switch, took mine off cleaned it up and put it back and 18 months later still working fine. Another issue is if the battery doesn't have enough charge then one of the ECU's will throw an error which shows as he M+S lights coming on. Get your battery checked out first it is easier.

This guide should help, if you need to replace the XYZ swicth;
Guidance for replacing my XYZ switch. - Australian Land Rover Owners

Thats a great start i willl look into this over the coming weeks. Thanks. Do you or anyone know how the nanocom fault codes relate.

all the fault codes are described in RAVE in the autobox operation chapter but if you dont have one post the fault code here and i'll tell you, it's good to start from the fault code cos there are 15 reasons for flashing M+S even though the XYZ switch is the most common
