So, after coming off the power when doing 55 or more, theres a noise, seemingly from the rear but can't be sure. After initial deceleration, it disappears as does it when the brakes or power is applied again. Sounds like something is slack somewhere?

Did post a couple of months back, told could be UJ's or A Frame ball joint. All have been replaced, hell its a rebuilt rear axle from a disco on it now. new bearings the lot.

Ideas?

Thanks.

I feared it could be diff but seemed ok. Alot of coincidence if I've been caught by two of them!

You never know, depends how well the new one had been looked after.
I guess you could try removing rear prop so it's no longer driven and see if the noise is still their.

Have you had a feel of the output bearings on your transfer case? Many years ago when we had the Series we got a bit of chatter from them when they were getting loose. When they're actually doing some work there was less noise, as the action of the gears would be tending to push the shafts apart to the limit of their travel, but when just idling there was a kind of grindy noise which I think was stuff rattling about.

Propshaft out of phase UJ knackered, diff pinion bearing and loads of other things but give those a test first

Noise has got worse when coming off power, checked UJ's, seem fine (new anyway). Can't see it being anything other than rear diff??

Not had time to get it off and wont for a good while, use the 90 too much! Will have to get it into a garage soon£££

Thanks for the tips anyway
