Iv bought myself some 2k acrylic now so going to give that a go, Iv got a disco bonnet kicking about so going to use that as a test piece. I bought aircraft blue, no idea what it's going to turn out like but if I don't like it I think I'll just buy a tin of gloss black.

Ah, fair enough, no worries.
Just had a look and aircraft blue looks pretty good, although it's bloody hard to gauge from a colour chart. I had the same dilemma.
I wouldn't go gloss black for first paint job either, as it's meant to be one of the hardest colours to paint. (Only going off what I've been told though)

Hi aaron would you consider selling the paint

Yes, cover postage or come and collect it and you can have it bud.

as it's meant to be one of the hardest colours to paint.
No, actually. I painted my chassis gloss black. Definitely would do again, looks absolutely amazing. The reason it does is because when the sun is not shining on it, it's a much truer black, alot darker, almost absorbs light according to my camera. Go for it, the finish is amazing!

Well last weekend being a long one it should have been a good one, but I was talked into sorting both shed's out  Not to mention the house, where lr parts have also migrated
And yes it took 3 full days to sort :eek:
Threw some crap away, some for scrap and some stuff for sale.
As much as I didn't want to it kind of helps really, as I haven't been paid for 5 weeks and funds in current account where struggling slightly.

Although I did move it, which showed up a problem, it was difficult to select gear.
I adjusted master cylinder rod one way and couldn't get any gear.
Adjusted the other way so I can get gears and I could smell clutch. (so assume over adjusted and not releasing fully)
Anywhere in the middle and it is difficult to select or doesn't select at all.

It never did it before, and selected perfect.
Used the same gear box, so the only thing that has changed is the clutch, which I kept the one on the new engine on as it looked better than the other one.
Obviously not, but the less said the better, I give up, I've lost interest now and it's obviously not meant to be.
Wouldn't be so bad if I'd done from the start as it'd be easier to sort and found earlier.
I keep telling myself it'll be worth it in the end, which it will, but right now I wish I never started the damn thing as it's just one problem after the other.

It gets a bit disheartening when things go wrong, but that's the trouble with using 2nd hand parts. You've done a fantastic job up now give yourself a break grab the fishing rod or golf clubs or whatever rocks your boat and in a few weeks with a fresh breath start again. Good luck.

Yep the bloody things can drive you mad and then you see one driving down the road and the love affair starts all over again

Keep at it mate, you are doing a grand job

+1 You're doing a great job. But as robertcoby said, sometimes a break does you the world of good. Helps me when a few things go wrong on the trot and it gets you down a bit. After a few days off I can't wait to get back at it with spirits lifted.
Things are always going to go wrong though, mate. This is what I keep telling myself :D If they didn't have problems we wouldn't be needing to work on them! That would just be boring

Cheers :) I guess that and funds is why it isn't already finished.
Just seems as I sort one issue another crops up, just want it finished now, so I can at least drive it and sort little jobs like paint as and when.
As at the moment it's just a very expensive garden ornament.

Cheers mate :) I need a change of scenery, as this is certainly ****ing me off, or not ****ing me off, I'm just more annoyed with myself for letting it happen again! Guess that's what happens when you're on a budget, or take other peoples word for it.

Cheers bud :) That's what I'd usually do, but things seem to have gotten worse than that lately, it doesn't help that I have had little time to try and sort it either.
But I'll get their in the end

did i just buy a fuel gauge off you on ebay ?

reciept just came in from aaronmorris1989

Aye that'd be me :)
Hadn't got around to listing on here yet or it'd have been cheaper.

So no landrover today, took heed of advice and left it be for this weekend.
Although I can't just sit and do f*ck all, so I decided to start stripping the transfer box I've got for a rebuild.
Got it all stripped, and started cleaning it all up, hopefully some bits will turn up in the week and I'll start re-assembly once I've had a couple more hours cleaning everything.
Have done a couple lately and quite enjoy it.

Bought a nice little impact gun last week too, which the last one pretty much paid for, much nicer to use than the big 18v one when it's not actually needed.
Not that I need it for a home tinkerer, I just like buying tools

Would you say it's hard to rebuild a transfer box wouldn't mind giving it a go myself. Oh and I've got the complete 18v fuel range by milwaukee amazing pieces of kit.

No I think they're pretty easy to be fair bud.
Provided you've got the tools needed (Bearing puller, press if you don't want to be messing about heating stuff up and freezing the other) they're relatively simple.
Bring it to me and I'll do it with you if you haven't got what is needed.

Oh and yes, an 18v drill is next on the list, could do with one for work and keep borrowing brothers and he's not too happy I use it more than him
And it's only got one battery which is a bugger.

Yep, that was the weekend off
I don't really do weekends off, just seems a waste of time so like to keep a little busy, even if it's just messing around sorting the shed out. I have nothing else to do, it's not like I have friends who I go out and socialize with. So this is the only thing I do other than work, might as well not be here if not.

Oh and it's for someone I did one for a couple of months backs friend, I sold one to him a while back and he has sent a couple more people to me since.
