Hello,
Well I'm warming up the wife's credit cards again( lol)
So my beloved TD6 vogue, was getting noisy from cold( tappy) but quieter when running, ( I was told it was a fuel sounding noise) so had the injectors tested.
Sure enough number 3 was showing a -4.3 ( 0 being optimum and anything under 1 ok)
So being a rather busy Chap, I have handed it to a very respected independent in Leeds called Green Oval, to do the work.

On investigation it wasn't the injector on number 3, but low compretion(80% down)
So of has come its head!
4 bent valves have been found and a coked up to fook head!

Head sent to be sorted and skimmed, one injector damaged upon removal( can't be helped as it wouldn't come out without damaging it)' 5 injectors to be serviced whilst of ( makes sense I think)
Oil,filters and gaskets ETC. And 20 hours labour in total.
Can anyone lend me a fiver as I'm having to break into my paper round money:hurt::hurt:

Can those heads be skimmed? The M51 head can't:eek:

yeah but 12 valves per cam over 3 pots so how do you bend all 4 on one pot and the other 8 are perfect? has it had lifter issues on that pot or some sort of foreign object?
Just wondering as the OP never mentioned a cause.

My guess would be that either the valves met or not all 4 were actually bent but all 4 were replaced.
Oh and there are 6 cylinders and 12 valves per cam.

On the Girlfriends Ninety that snapped No.8 pushrod twice.....when I had the head off, there were witness marks on all the piston crowns that the exhaust valves on all 4 pots had met the piston, but only No.8 pushrod failed...the others were straights as a die....replaced in anycase, but only 1 failed (twice)

You are correct of course 6 cylinders on a TDV6, the name sort of gives it away.
I need to be a bit more careful when posting as i had already narrowed my train of thought down to just 1 bank, the failed bank of 3 cylinders but not stated it in my post, causing possible confusion.

Were these OEM pushrods? I'm very surprised - snapped pushrods are usually evidence of another problem unless they are incorrectly manufactured with the wrong metallurgy or slightly bent from new.

It's not a V6 it's a straight 6.

All for valves that were removed had between 25 ad 35 percent of the seating face visibly showing signs of pitting where I presume either the coking caused this or this caused the coking? ( chicken egg?)
Any how all I know is that my engine is now sweet as a nut and it's like a new car
( I'm happy ) also whilst of had 5 injectors refurbed and bought one new one due to being damaged on removal
