The time is fast approaching to change tyres on V6. I'm thinking of changing from the standard Wranglers to something cheaper and hopefully longer lasting and a bit more aggressive. I notice that Yokohama Geolander AT-S GO12 are pretty cheap from one particular online seller. Are these tyres any good? They look pretty aggressive and they give about the best wet performance of all off road type tyres. Your thoughts please.
Thanks

I've had mine on for a good 8 month's now, I think they are good in the wet, snow, Ice and do really well in the mud, gravel etc whilst green laning.......they are noisier than road tyres but not loud. :)

£306 is that fitted Nodge??

if not try Black circle,
mine were £330 fitted at a place near to your postcode..

That is from Black Circles fitted!! Ether they are clearing them out or the pricing is regional? My local fitter is also doing a £7.50 discount on a pair of these. Basically if I have 2 fitted at a time the cost is just under £153 for a pair.

I have 4 of these....seem fine, but have a tendency to wear on the edges -front and rear- compared to the last tyres I had, which were Nexen AT's.
Alignment is checked and ok, pressure is as stated in the book...perhaps the tyre shape lends itself to wearing the edges more? perhaps my freelander is just bent? who knows. I have upped the pressures a bit to see if it improves.

You probably want to add another 2 - 3 psi. The book certainly isn't assuming you're using Yokohama tyres.

+1 the psi recommended is for factory spec as fitted. Change tyres( size, brand) throw the psi recommended psi out the window and go with what is on the side of tyre and watch the wear and adjust accordingly

Just out of interest what pressure were your running them at? And what have you increased them too?
Cheers

my book says 1.8 bar, which is a little over 26 psi. I have upped them to 30.

My 50th Anniversary Freelander had a little supplement slip in the owners manual. This read something like "the tyre pressure has been increased from 26 psi to 30 psi for all models"

Interesting - I only upped them last week, so will see how they wear.
I had them on the car last year, then fitted the Nexens, which have now worn out (20K kilometers - not bad for an A/T) so I refitted the Yokos.
Tyres are a farce here - the car will only pass safety inspection with the original size tyres, so changing to something else means swapping stuff about like I have been doing for each inspection.

I believe they want to introduce something like that Brussels bull here in the future too :(

Well I've had the front tyres changed to Geolanders (props removed for summer).
First impressions are good. They look nice and aren't at all loud at 70mph. I have noticed that they are very vocal on pulling away from the lights, they are much noisier than the Wranglers they replaced, i wasn't really aware the Wranglers spun to be honest but these Yoky's let me know I've used to much gas!! But first impressions are positive especially when you consider that the Geolanders have better wet braking, a TWI of 500 opposed to the TWI 280 on the Wranglers and the Geolanders cost £20 a corner less. I'm more than happy with them.
