Thinking about adding a winch

Apologies if this has already be done / asked before.

I go green laning, a lot, usually with my brother in his 110. I'm always slightly worried about going on my own because if I get stuck I won't be able to rescue myself.

So, I would really like to put a winch on my freelander.

is it a case of just bolting a winch to the metal bumper behind the plastic bumper? or do I need to get something made?

If anyone has already done this please could you help me out?

Rather obviously a winch will need to be very secure to the vehicle, due to the stresses involved in winching.

I made the winch brackets that Mansfield 4x4 sell, so I'm happy to vouch for the quality of them far better quality than the winch brackets that have been available elsewhere over the last year or two.

the metal piece behind the bumper is no good for that it is made of alloy I did buy a a frame with a winch mount on but it stuck out to far if you have the face lift model the winch has been done on here do a search I can not think who did it but it looked great.

I've decided not to spend anymore money on my freelander, I'm going to buy a Defender as my next project and make a mini monster truck.
