interesting and informative thread -

i assumed (dangerous i know) that my van would be subject to the LEZ charge - it only has two seats and no windows apart from the windscreen and doors - it's a 55 td5 -

i've just checked the website and it's compliant? -

must be because of this bit -

'Certain vehicles meet the Euro 3 standard because they are early adopters:

All Defenders, 90s, 110s, 127s and 130s manufactured after 6 August 2001'

WTF are 'early adopters' - you don't expect LR to be ahead of the game :D

It makes no sense that different LR vehicles using exactly the same TD5 engines are treated differently. Its just a money making scam in by book.

A money making scam, in London , don't be so ridiculous

A guy I know has a few vans, one of his drivers pulled across into a bus lane to let an ambulance past then came out, no more that 10 seconds

Got a fine, appealed, lost , reason, should have made the ambulance go in the bus lane.

I pity anybody that needs an ambulance in London because money is more important than the patient

Same thing happened to me in Lambeth.
Got directed into the bus lane by a motorcycle cop to allow a wide load he was escorting through.
Appealed and lost. Reason - should have asked the copper for his details and got him to confirm the order with his control room before complying. Yeah right can you imagine the cops reply?
Fined me £60 so I tipped a load of old tyres for them to clear up which would have cost them more than the £60.
Since then I've deliberately driven down the same bus lane with the plates of a vehicle I scapped years ago which also wastes their time and money trying to fine a non existant vehicle. Simply pull the plates off around the corner and smile for the rest of the day. W@nkers

It actually costs me you and everyone else to clear up and wasting time and resources is just pointless. Man up and just pay the fine and deal with it. Who's the w@nker.

Actually in a fiat based money system it provides Jobs;)

If you're idling in a bus lane then doing 22 in a 20 whilst jumping a red light then you stop n a yellow box on a yellow line while you're in the congestion zone you might as well just give them the car

It's absolute insanity that you can get a ticket for moving into a bus lane to let a wide load through, when directed by the Police.
The reason given for not cancelling the fine was stupid beyond belief.

So if the Police tell you to move aside, you are to stay where you are, (and stop your vehicle of course, as you can't use a phone while driving) while you make a phone call to check they have authority to move you into a bus lane?

You couldn't make this stuff up.
