i live in Wath-Upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire and need a new mechanic as the garage I have used for years have had a bit of a bust up. The mechanic I prefer now only does odd jobs as he drives HGV's as a day job.

Does anyone know a Land Rover specialist in the area? Wath-Upon-Dearne is quite close to Barnsley.

Thanks in advance, Stu.

hello Stu

These maybe too far away for you but they are a proper Landy specialist maltingsoffroad.co.uk they are as far east in South Yorkshire as is possible, I have taken our series 3 there for various bits and pieces. (luckily i am just a village away) They are often busy though and charge quite a lot per hour, but they know their stuff. another one very slightly nearer or about the same is Doncaster Country Vehicles I have never used them though

good luck

Thanks for the reply but having checked Google maps it's an hours drive away. I'm guessing with the amount of Land Rovers I see around there must be some good garages/mechanics in the Barnsley area that specialise in Land Rovers :-/

Just over the hill from you was the Land Rover Centre, Waterside, Bridge Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD4 6EL 0484 542092

Don't know it they are still there or not as the details have come from my very old address book, but you can give them a try.

He used to compete and always had loads of spares in stock

Can't remember his name but he has a garage down Wombwell, behind the old Station pub, access from the by-pass just after Station road roundabout. He was the mechanic at 4 X 4 on Pitt lane before it burnt down. The place might look rough as he is a one man job, but he knows his stuff.

Sorted the fuel pump problem with part from an eBay seller £79.99 free delivery. It was just the fuel pump on its way out. Now I have a knackered ignition switch and a leaking rear diff. Sorted a replacement rubber seal for the diff for just £18 from Doncaster Land Rover but can I hell like find a switch at a reasonable price. Its the centre plastic part that is worn out so the key doesn't turn it enough. It looks like a sealed unit with the wires and brown plug bit attached. Its not the same as the Disco 1 part. Does anyone know the part number for my Disco 2 ignition switch???
