I know this has been asked a number of time I have a Google search before asking anyway customers had an mot today and its failed horns not working checked power to the horn checked fuse left the door open locked the car horn works witch lead me to belive it's the clock spring behing the steering wheel but the steering wheel controls are still working as did read that it's all connected as being the apprentice mechanic im a little stump and still think it's the clock spring so what dose anyone else think? Cheers James

Are you able to test the rotary coupler for continuity with a multimeter? Looking at the circuit diagram there isn't much to it. If the alarm triggers the horn then it must either be with the cable or the coupler.

put you steering wheel strait forward position then take the rotary couple out and then test continuity from one end to the other BUT when you put it back you must have the white square in the square hole or you will snap it as soon as you turn the steering wheel
at the same time check the wires going to the horn push switch and there is two of them.

also, have you changed the radio recently ? on some versions, bizarrely, the earth for the horn button or relay was routed through the radio.

when it was changed, the horn stopped working, but usually not noticed for some time after. when you fit a new radio, you don't think to test the horn !
