After purchasing a replacement Harman Kardon mid for the front door (ebay) for it to last about five minutes, this I put down to it being a similar age, can anyone suggest a direct replacement other than a new one from landrover as they want £80 for a single unit. I do not mind a bit of adaptation to make it fit. Also can anyone please tell me the wattage and ohm of the back door woofers as these are gone too. Thanks jeremy

Ok bit the first bullet. I replaced the subs in the boot door using the 6.5" woofer cones from a set of Vibe Slick 6 componnents bought from Halfords for just under £50. Firstly im sure you could buy them on line cheeper, but if they didn't fit I would have been stuck with a set of speakers and back to square one. Ideally they would benefit from some spacers as room is tight at the rear, however a few bashes later from my Stanley claw hammer soon had the right one sitting in. I also removed the front spacers from the original, sanded the glue off and re used them too. A word of warning when screwing the grill back on use a short screw otherwise you will put a small hole in the woofer surround, not good :(
Still wondering what to do up front, howevet I did discover the drivers front mid suffers no distortion at all... ...because it doesn't work either lol!

Sorry forgot to mention the boot door speakers were very close to 4 ohms and the front mids about 3.5 ohms.

I think the HK ones are all '4 ohm' speakers. DC resistance (measured on a multimeter) will vary by an ohm or two, but almost all speakers are 4 ohm or 8 ohm, so just for the closest replacement if there is no spec.

After coming to the conclusion that £180 for two new speakers from Land Rover is just ridiculous I ordered two brand new Phillips ones off Ebay for less than £18 delivered. They arrived the next day all in sealed packaging. I took them out of the grill enclosurers and into the Harman Kardon ones, and swapped the pins in the plug that connects to the speaker which was very easy. Now im over the moon both front mids working and tbh you probably could never tell the difference. So in my experience don't bother buying the Harman Kardon ones second hand as I reckon it is a case of when and not if the cone to basket material will fail. In contrast the Phillips looks stronger and just as well made anyway.

i have finally taken the door panel off to remove speakers
measured the mid range harman kardons which are 2.5 inch and still unable to find a replacement for them as ones available are usually 3" or larger
which model did you go for?
also, need to replace the full range speakers in the front as they are also blown..

I was going to suggest the Philips high-line speakers as that's what I did with mine I got a pair for £10 the outer excursion ring is made of thicker rubber that the hk ones and sound exactly the same.
