Well here's my series three back on the road it languished in the previous owners back garden for a few years. Fitted new foot wells and welded the rest of the bulkhead, changed to a truck, new wolf wheels with Kuhmo mud tyres and a quick roller paint job ( was camo ) going to do a rolling restoration by stripping each panel of the layers of paint and spray properly. Gearbox is knackered jumps out of 2nd but is drivable while I plan a gearbox change. It has a galv chassis I believe from 1999 it still good slight surface rust on the outriggers.

Cheers for the replies guys the chassis could be some kind of surface contamination haven't had it long enough to look into it been concentrating on getting it on the road.

galvy chassis can and do rust eventually, remember that galv is a sacrificial coating but it doesn't last forever

how many rusty cappings and windscreen frames have you seen ??

and those don't generally have dirt/damp sitting on them for extended periods of time, a galvy chassis should really be painted to extend the protection along with the inside being coated in waxoyl/dinitrol or similar
