I would just like to say

More Freelander visitors to our fred. I will put the kettle on.

Ere's some photo's of a broke'd Freelander ird (intermediate reduction drive). Think of it as a fixed ratio transfer box which takes the drive from the gearbox and passes it to the front wheels via a diff, and also to the rear wheels via the pinion gear.

Unfortunately this one has failed. There's a chip in the larger gear and the case has cracked when the gears were forced apart. Normally caused by too much stress in the transmission. More often than not caused by a vcu (viscous coupling unit) being too tight or the tyres not being the same make/model/size. This one is oft a v6 Freelander which sadly is no longer on the road.

The ird is pictured upside down. When fitted to a Freelander the damage would be on the side closer to the ground.

Don't worry. Some time ago I took over in ere and it's now the 2nd Freelander section. But we let they stay if they're behaved and take their wellies oft. They seem to quite like talking Freelanders with us, amongst many other things. There's the odd few that are quite normal.

Normal? Really?

Some of them are normal but not many. It's a strange concept.

It's been said the other 2 top gear presenters have dropped out of contract renewal talks. Also it's been put forward that it's a stunt to get kicked out of the bbc...

Me freds gone past 200,000 views. It's now officially the most interesting fred in the second Freelander section.

I noticed they didn't show him get in. I assume he's welded the doors shut due to water problems in the past.

We're still in ere marking our territory but have been quieter of late as we thought we'd upset you lot.

Bank holiday weekend so I get Monday oft.

i got my defender back today,good points it now goes like fook and ****es all over liz,s hippo,bad ponts is you cant see anything behind you,think the pump needs turning down
