Hi guys, I've gone digging through a load of previous freds and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for, so can any one help me? My question is this I'm wanting to fit a light bar to the plastic bumper of my 2002 disco td5 xs, can I get something that will just fit to it with ether screws or bolts without cutting great chunck out of the bumper or any welding? If so can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks for taking the time to read the simple question of yet another clueless noobie!

Don't see why not for the practical aspect, LED light bars are plastic and quite light and fitted is as any standard driving lamp if not easer.
But perhaps u don't find any threads on the subject is because that using them at bumper/grill level is not road legal and so off road use only due to the non directional light output and that's why they are fitted above the windscreen on some vehicles.

Fitted one of these light bars to my 2001 Discovery TD5 a few weeks ago. Very easy to fit. The RAVE pages stated you have to take the bumper off but I managed it without doing this. If you take the front grill out there was just enough room to get my fingers in for the bolt. I think it took 2 x M10's. Just drilled straight through the bumper and bolted on nice and tight :)

Haven't got round to lamps yet though..... added that to the list of jobs for a warmer day

Have a look at this one too, might assist ;)

Thanks for all the advice guys and I've now down loaded a copy of RAVE aswell, bumper lights al looks very do-able, anyone able to tell me if I can use them whilst driving on the road?

The front light bar is available on that well known auction website. Do a search there for "Discovery light bar". Cost about fifty quid, and very similar to the official LR light bar.

They're designed to carry two spot/driving lamps which are street legal if they are arranged to switch on with the main beams and off with dipped headlights.

I fitted one to mine and the only downsides I've found are the lamps might obstruct removal of the radiator grille if you have to and initially the lamps acted like they were mounted on marshmallow; I needed to fit stabiliser bars, also on that website which sorted the problem.
