Anybody know what happens to the psni landrovers when they go out of service as i don't ever remember seeing them in shows or for sale anywhere.Im assuming they are modified quite a bit from what you see of them on the tv being petrol bombed ect.

They are based on the defender, and when they've had the armour, bulletproof glass, skirts, fire supression and assorted gubbins added to them are known as Tangi's
More details here.
Don't know of anyone selling them at the moment. Witham-SV have a few armoured Vectras for sale that look to be ex-PSNI, you could call them and ask if they can get Tangi's, and Wilsons Auctions also sell a bot of stuff for the police too. Might be worth calling them too.

They are very hard to get, most would have been stripped down before being disposed of.

I know a guy who makes the models of them.

Older ones were grey - (RUC) ROYAL ULSTER CONSTABULARY, there were only ever three police forces in the world that had 'Royal' in the title, highly collectable all over the world.

After changed times and so as not to offend sections of the community they changed their name to POLICE SERVICE OF NI (PSNI), along with a white paint job and blue/yellow graphics on the Tangis.

I think you're right, the armour is taken off.

The Mounties, Hong Kong, and the RUC GC!:D

And the
Royal Malaysian Police
Royal Brunei Police
Royal Thai Police
Royal Naboo security police.
Royal Bahamas police
Royal Military Police

oh and the Royal Irish Constabulary before Southern Ireland gained independence. If you search the web you'll probably find a few more as well.

Well there you are now..... learn something new everyday.

Obviously a former family friend who is now retired from service was telling porkies.
