I have found a, " waxoiled from new " chassis for my D2 which I intend to have it stripped and galved.
I have lined up both a place to have it dipped and also galved. Dipping will cost £325.00+vat and galving £135.00+vat.
Before I take it up on Friday, does anyone have any experience in doing this or any comments ?.

Cheers.

ive seen a good few warped galved used chassis ,admittedly not disco 2 but cant see why they dont share the same risk

I asked this question to the galvanisers and they said they have done loads of LR chassis with no problem. I wonder how the likes of Richards get on.
I already have a mate who has fitted a stripped and galved chassis with no problem.
The stripping company did offer the cheaper option of burning off all the old paint/waxoil but I thought this may lead to warping so I stuck with the dipping option.
Admittedly, I havent read any stories about warped chassis after stripping/galving !.

Cheers.

people that make galv chassis produce hem with the knowledge they are going to be galved, one reason why galv chassis are heavy duty, i cant say they allways warp but have had quite few bought to me that wouldnt sit anywhere near flat on a flat floor

Whats the end result there James ?. Is the chassis u/s, or can they be straightened out ?. Certainly worth keeping in mind.
Cheers.
