VIN rusted - what to do

Hi

Was at the bi-annual vehicle inspection. Flunked because of the VIN not being easy to read!!!!!

Anybody got some bright ideas what to do? Is there a VIN somewhere else on the car that can be used as identification. The one in the window apparently isn't good enough, so I'm kinda in a problem here. Can I do something to make the VIN readable again, or anything?

Really hope you have some good ideas...

Open the hood ! On the top panel there should be a plate with vin etc !

Sorry .. I wasn't precise enough. It's the one on the top panel that has rusted. And I'm told that the other ones aren't good enough, as they can be changed .. or something. Just looked in the RAVE-manual for help and found that it's only the one under the hood that has been stamped into the frame. So I'm f*****. Have to stamp a new one into the frame I think. :'(

What vehicle are you talking about for a start ?
