What have you done to your Freelander today

So far today.... Drove it to work, then before I got a job come in I stuck it on the ramp got the tracking gauges out and adjusted the front toe setting...

Then I gave it a quick wash including a steam under the bonnet!

Now it is parked for 4 days...:(
 
Sold it!!

My Hippo didn't get anywhere enough use to justify the running costs.

Sticking around though to see what you guys are up to.

FIA cage and seats also on the list at some point (nice to have), as is a commercial bulkhead behind the front seats.

You can't fit both the roll cage and the commercial bulkhead. Also the only rollcage manufacturer I know who will make you a cage is Tornado Motorsport in Hilton, Derbyshire. Safety Devices haven't done one for years. A bespoke cage will cost megabucks and Tornado already have the set-up. They supplied and fitted one for my V6 in 2007. I've just sold my Td4 with a Safety Devices cage in. Still have my Tornado built Rally Freelander with full space-frame type welded in cage - now that's real trick ! Comes through the bulkhead into the engine bay and also forms the turret tops for the suspension.
 
You can if you cut the commercial bulkhead about...... It's more to make the rear load area dog friendly, so happy to butcher it about a bit. And thank you for the heads-up on Tornado, I'll give them a shout.

Was that your v6 in blue/white/yellow that just sold on eBay? Was watching that with some interest.
 
changed oil & filter and...
everytime I do it I take the time to lube the clutch release arm, but today I found the slave cylinder "too wiggly"



WTF it is only a 3 year old part and it already has 2 cracks in it!!!
I guess I should feel happy to have gotten to it in time and not after having to drive almost 1 hour in 2nd gear to get home as the last time.
has anyone ever modified the bracket to make it more resistant?
I've seen the kit from Dark Ice Designs for the Rover 45 and I guess it could be adapted to the Freelander but I don't need the hole assembly only a bracket that wouldn't break.

The Dark Ice Designs clutch kit is the same as a guy on various forums called "Sheddist". He made up a kit for the ZS/ Rover 45 some years ago. Sadly that kit won't work correctly with the Freelander bulkhead. I was looking into fabricating a stronger set up, but general consensus was there wasn't any need for it.
 
Do they crack in the same place every time? If so, could it be possible to put some weld where it cracks to strengthen that area?

exactly the same place but you can't "thicken" the plate cause then the slave wouldn't fit; only way I see it would be to make an additional mounting point for the slave

Yes but it was in mint condition when I sold it to him. He's made a real mess of it and a massive profit too. Typical. Owed me the best part of 6k when he bought it from me 18 months ago for only £2650 and it was gas converted. Just sold my silver td4 too. Need to get my rally freelander back on the road.
 
Today, I have been mostly taking my TD4 back to the garage to get them to replace the locking wheelnut key that some :censored: meathead stripped the spline thingies from.
Typical - my first post in the forum and it's a rant!

to be fair this is a really easy job :p i mean to rip off the locking wheel nut... not stripping it :) any thieving scum with an ebay account can buy a set of locking wheel nut removal tools for a fiver.

Thats why i dont bother fitting em :)
 
Today I have straightened up the back door window which was off to one side and hitting the frame and then cleaned up the faded headlights with Autoglym metal polish.

started to install my heated fuel filter in order to twin tank the FL1
