Yet another copy car from China.

from the article:
Chinese automakers have a long history of copying European designs, with the latest example being the Landwind E32 which is nothing more than a Range Rover Evoque lookalike. Now, Mingjun Motors is ready to introduce its M3 S1 that clearly copies the outgoing Land Rover Freelander.

I would not have one if you gave it to me also I always thought of the Honda crv as a knock of , of the freelander 1

This^^^^
It's almost like a sister car isn't it. I wonder how many parts can be interchanged between the two?
Much like the Civic and Rover 45!!

looks more like the last model of the sorento

It's difficult to tell at a glance what any modern car is. They are all beginning to look the same. At least the Freelander, or an LR vehicle for that matter look individual. Just look at a modern hatchback, you can't tell them apart any more.
As for crash tests. The Chinese stuff looks bad, the Freelander isn't all that safe according to EURO NCAP tests.
Having seen what my 50th edition Freelander looked like after the wife drove it at 25mph into a 2ft high loose lay stone wall. I'd say Freelander is pretty strong!!

Saw a post last night on the internet about that G4 Disco crash with an Audi A4 in South Africa, 204mph combined impact speed, the Disco was smashed up at the front end, but only because the front bumper ended up going straight through the audi into the drivers seat! Disco structure remained largely intact

As said by many people, I'd rather be in a big heavy 4x4 in a crash than a small car, or a chinese knock off! Apart from a Defender, wouldn't want to be in one of them in a big crash

some of the chinese stuff is pretty shocking. I was working on the development of the new jaguar landrover plant which is being built in colaboration with Cherry.

The chinese partners are obsessed with cost cutting in any way they can, including drastically reducing build quality.

The arguments between JLR and Cherry were hilarious over it. It was like watching children fight over a toy!

That is simple physics.
This is, where I believe the NCAP tests are slightly flawed. In the real world, we don't crash into a small deformable block secured to 100 tons of concrete!!. Most likely a crash will involve 2 vehicles. Both will deform and both will bounce away from each other, the heaviest bouncing less.

Yeah, a lot of things about modern motoring are outdated, NCAP and the overinflated "laboratory" mpg figures being just two

Suggest that you have a look on YouTube as to the crash test performance of some of these Chinese copies... you might change your mind!

Crashtest Comparison: German vs. Chinese Cars - YouTube

Crash Test - Shuanghuan vs Landwind (Chinese copies) - YouTube

Seen the results of an LR in a crash test?

I am sure crash testing is not comparable

Nah LR's would show how flawed they are!

Everything a stealer says is bull**** if a second hand car salesman said the same overinflated bull**** he would be shut down!!!!!

Yes I have - and I know that the FL1 didn't perform that well but when crash testing and safety became a strong selling point and of media interest in the mid 2000's - the design of the FL1 was already 10 years old. I know the Fiesta's and the Clio's of the time fared better (statistically) in the tests but given a choice in a head on crash between the two I would still rather be in the Land Rover.

But all that said : Fifth Gear - Renault Modus vs Volvo 940 crash test - YouTube

But if that were a newer big volvo with a 4-5 NCAP rating against the renault, i'd still prefer to be in the bigger one

I don't think it looks like an Evoke or Freelander any more than any other small SUV from any number of makers. Apart from the grill which probably came from the same Chinese parts bin a the original. As for reliability,, it can't be any worse than Land Rovers can it?
