A 2nd hand VC and fan is about £20 .. well, that's what I paid for mine ..

Just got back from the Rugby club after celebrating doing my Radiator ! Like they all say hit the nut harder ! I used a thin spanner I had from a Flymo, put an open ended spanner on to it and hit it hard ! Hey presto, nut loosened, fan off radiator out and replaced. Total time about 1 1/2 hours work. The cowl needs to fit on properly at the bottom to ensure its drawing air through (extra 1/4 hour wasted there ) and one of the bottom fixing nuts was a b@$)@rd to get in but ..so far...its tickety boo ! I am so chuffed coz I am normally useless with tools. (I'm paid for what I know, not what I do.... ) Good Luck !

Mine wouldn't loosen despite much shocking in the correct direction. I had to get the fan off because it had started to shed blades so started chiselling off the remainder - hay presto - the thread came loose. Now running without a fan and the electric fan mod - thanks for that advice, its survived a few motorway holdups without getting past 1 oclock on the temperature gauge well clear of the red bit.

Funny, I took mine off last weekend to replace the temp sensor and mine turned....... LEFT!!!

Yeah it will do if you have a V8, the fans on those turn in the opposite direction to the diesels. Fans ALWAYS undo in the direction of rotation. If your fan turns clockwise, it undoes clockwise, if it turns anti clockwise, it undoes anti clockwise. There would be a lot of fun if they didn't. They would just unscrew themselves. :);)

Pleasant reading. Planning on having a go at mine tomorrow. Harry Hammer at the ready!

Its dead easy :)

Give it a whack tonight with a chisel in the joint between the nut and the shaft - just to break any fused join - then soak it in penetrating oil. Tomorrow it should come off ok with a spanner and a hammer. Copper grease the threads when you put it back on as you are bound to want it off again sometime in the future...

Its off... Paul (my m8 ... yea I do have one) took the pump off, took it back to his garage, it was rusted on, and someone had chiseled it back on tight, its still OK to use, but I had to order a new water pump (£19)

If you paid £19.00 for a water pump you may need to get the fan off again shortly. You ask which is the best supplier then buy ****e.

I'll agree with that Wammers. I bought a ****part water pump for my 200 and as soon as I started her up the bearing in the pump caused the pulley to wobble all over the place. Utter crap
