I've had enough of working my arse off to just cover my mortgage and bills so I'm selling up and moving back home to Ireland.

I know that vehicle tax in Ireland is astronomical so I was wondering if anyone has experience of importing a Land Rover as a commercial (much cheaper tax). Mine is already registered as a light utility and was originally manufactured as a hardtop. It only has 3 seats and therefore should be classed as a N1 commercial but I've been told that you need a registered business to benefit from commercial status.

Anyone have any experience of this?

Cheers

:) Thanks Gemsdad.

The lure of being financially secure and a lifestyle change has won over my 15 hour weekly commute on Surrey and Hampshire roads plus the cost of that for the last 9 years and struggling to meet bills.

It's a pain in the ass that the vehicle tax is €1080 for my Defender unless I can get it recognised as a commercial.

I'm in Ireland and my landy was brought in from the uk as a commercial. The guy who brought it in was a paye worker. I have it taxed and insured as commercial and I'm also a paye worker. I.e. Neither of us own a business.

Sounds perfect. Did you need to fill in the certificate of compliancy or which ones did you do?
