My first post here so please be gentle if I get something wrong :confused2:

Hi all, I've been reading around on the forum for a bit, but I haven't yet come across an answer.

My Freelander has a set of four holes drilled at each of the four corners of the boot locker and the carpet has been cut to allow access to the metal floor of the compartment. There is also a four pin connector that appears from under the carpet and has been taped under the carpet.

I was wondering what on-earth was mounted in the boot compartment before I got hold of my beast.

I was also looking to replace the carpet, because all the water from the holes has rotted the carpet in mine, and was curious to find out if the 3dr rear floor plan was the same as the 5dr.

Its was an optional extra 'The Vidal Sasoon experience' someone must have removed the unit and sold it on via Ebay or such like.
If you plan on returning it to factory standard you should look out for this -

and of course :welcome2:

the actual sub woofer is attached to the lid and not the floor but somebody might have had something in there like a safe or something

:hysterically_laughi hi the holes would of been put there to drain trapped water , and the lead is for part of the music system !

Thanks for your input guys... I guess I'll hold off filling in the holes and fitting a replacement carpet until I have fixed the leaky whatever is leaking

Better start hunting for the watering hole now...

Common problem, use the search facility.

To fix the waterleak you have the wield the taildoor shut :)

Basically what I did :)

Tested the door seal with a pressure washer... Only leaked in one place :)

Moved the tail door closer to the aperture by adjusting the hinge and striking plate, and chucked a little silicone grease on the offending section (both sides for good measure).

Seemed to work when I retested it with the pressure washer. The window slows down a little when it gets to the top but doesn't seem to ask too much of the motor. Pleased to say a successful repair so-far.
