Good push start switch

I bought a cheap start switch from ebay about 6 weeks ago and it has given up the ghost already!

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a push button start switch?

Personally,i would look on a breakers yard for an old classic car,they are well made switches,not like todays rubbish.

Was it like the old series ones which were actual starter solenoid switches

Or just a push button through a relay

If you are operating a solenoid, the breaking of the contacts will cause an arc and burn the contacts, that is what has probably happened to yours.

If you fit either a quenching capacitor or an inverse diode across the switch, that will extend the life of the contacts

Just putting 'Engine Start' onto a push button switch doesn't make it fit for purpose, as you have found out.

Iann, yes it is to control a solenoid for a series 3.
