Which make of tyres?

If they're available in your size, also look at the BF Goodridge AT's, probably the best AT tyres on the market. The General Grabber AT would be the next choice, then maybe the Bridgestone D694 AT.

When I was at Bridgestone, we did an event day off roading on the D692 and it was awesome on both Disco's and (of all things) Volvo XC 90's.

now working for Continental (General is part of the Conti group), the General Grabber AT is what I'll be trying next.

We run Nexen Roadian A/T 255/65R16 106T rated.

Had them on for 2 and a half years now, still loads of tread and haven't had any issues in snow or mod. They are road-biased, Korean manufacturer. I also have a second new set in the stores. I expected a short life out of these but they have turned out to be a very good buy.

For serious off-roading the tread is not suitable. 99% of our usage is road plus lots of towing.

Camskills have them at a very good price.

I got a set of these too (a bit smaller though), even with little tread on them they impressed me when greenlaning as I expected to get nowhere when I hit even the slightest muddy puddle but they pulled through!, haven't driven in snow, and have only got stuck once! up a muddy hill! :)

there tucked up in a shed at the moment as I just got MTs fitted :)

BF Goodrich AT are said to be the best for mostly road use with occasional off road, would say there great for the odd laning trip, and ive heard they will last for 30k miles! so although expensive you get what you pay for!

ah go on then..

on my fender i quite fancy trying hankook dynapro mt that everyone went on about a few years back and kumho kl71s

I have Hankook Dynapro atm rf10's for the last 2 years and got me where I need to go, and plenty of tread left. Only ever seen 1 other truck with them on and don't know why???????

People read Landy magazines and look at the glossy adverts for General Grabbers etc etc, you'll never see Hankook and Kumho advertised in those mag's.

Totally agree about the BFG AT's,had them on my Disco 1 and have loads of customers with Defenders on them, farmers, tree surgeons fencing contractors etc getting huge mileages out of them and good off road grip too.Trouble is they don't make them for 18" rims, which is why I ended up with the General Grabber AT's.I have plenty of D2 and D3 customers using them, good mileage, but not quite as good off road as the BFG's.The GG's are also very quiet on the motorway and don't follow tramlines.
