you need to take the V5 to a local DVLA centre. where it takes 2minutes to get it changed. Though why the fook ya can't just do it online or at a post office. Is a mystery to me..

+1 except when i had to do it, i was in there for over an hour while they kept me waiting

Reckon you can get the taxation class changed at the PO.

Got me ambulance changed from tax exempt at one.....took them a bit of head scratching but they got there in the end.

Some years ago my brother in law went to a dvla centre to get it changed, he took the tax disc in with him, when he came out he'd got a ticket for not displaying a tax disc

Have had to change 2 vehicles changed from Disabled to paying tax. both had to be done at local Licensing office.

It might be recent. The cashier and a supervisor were both scratching their heads and nearly gave up but the Super said it says we can so we damn well will :D

Ok thanks, probably better to get the owner to change it over then.

Probably a daft question but does the v5 need to be sent off for the change? Would hold things up a little until it comes back.

Yes, that's why I did mine at the PO, they changed it from tax exempt on the system so I could buy a disc and they sent the V5 off.

I dont imagine it'll be different for disabled exemption, pop in and ask.

taxation class change generates a new V5

when I passed my old car to a dealer, which was disabled, he just said don't worry, when the keeper sends the V5 to register his details, it will change automatically.

not sure whether it did or not, but never had any comebacks, still showing as taxed on the database, not showing exemption
