it hates going into 2nd so I just pull away in second and use it as first.

apart from that she's a pretty usual disco, rear doors don't lock/unlock, rear windows don't work, she leaks (water into the inside and oil out of the engine) and whenever I fix one bit of rust another appears!

The barrel in the lock to the rear door of my 90 is broken and can therefore be opened with any key. Or a knife for that matter! Strictly, it is still locked!

Only had mine for just over 2 weeks and already there is quite a list, but the ones that make me chuckle are
The way the windscreen wiper only comes half way down on the drivers side
or the window that drops when you shut the drivers door
but my favourate is the way the window winder sticks in my leg when im driving

Although I still love her faults and all

Rear door lock teases you by opening on the central but sometimes dropping the moment you touch the handle to open the door (oh how we laugh)

Drivers footwell is sometimes a puddle, leak from base of pillar suspect the wing will have to come off. Anyway ripped out the foam so at least it dries eventually

Hates cold mornings (esp if neglected) and will sometimes eat a battery for breakfast before demanding my second one before starting.

Intermittent permission granted to open rear windows from centre console, depends on mood, weather.

I have the same rear door lock issue as Fingle. Pops up, the when you touch the handle it drops and the door gets stuck on the second catch.

Pops out of reverse randomly with a loud clunk, always scares swmbo big time lol.

Saggy headlining, stuck up with drawing pins at the moment.

Indicators won't cancel from the steering wheel, have to remember to do it myself

Other than that I love my Disco 1 to bits, 160k miles now and starts first time every time and drives great.

The headlights work, but not with the tailights, the taillights woirk when sidelights only are on!
Mine has just started doing this also, then there are the interesting hazard, towing and indicator combinations on the dash that are quite random

Back to windows decided they dont wanna work anymore then they worked for a bit and now they dont

Passenger side window regs gone
Drivers door dont open from outside
Passengers door just has good days and bad days

I've also spent some time trying stuff and now find, as you say, that various, apparently random, combinations do all sorts of things! All the lights work now, just not in conjunction with each other .. EXCEPT, the headlights and rear lights do work together, if I have the dash lights off. The fog light works when nothing else is on, the reversing light turns the other lights out ... all of them ...

Positions of the stalks do things, just not always the same things or in the same places. It's a wave in some direction and prayer I think that seems to work best.

Mind you .. I can now wind a window down and .. wait for it .. back up again without having to remove the door card and re-seat the glass in the mechanism.

New hinges also mean the same door closes with just a firm push, it doesn't now need to be simultaneously lifted to just the right level any more .. it stays level itself!

;)

Yeah my rear lights work now with both side and headlights due to me changing the front offside indicator that had welded itself to the bulb
