Hello members, Thank you for letting me join up and apologies in advance if I break any rules etc etc on making this introduction.

My name is Topsy, North Devon born and bred and very recently moved to West Devon AKA 'Mordor and Middle Earth!!'. A bit about me, Serving Armed forces, Marine engineer by trade by currently a vehicle mechanic with the Royals down in Poole in Dorset, Lots of off road experience especially in Oman in Supercat jackals and coyotes - awesome fun! Keen Land Rover man after having spent a year in the Falkland Islands driving one off road, fell in love with them and yesterday I took the plunge and bought a rather nice 2001 90 TD5, Hard top but a random conversion with two rather lazy boy style leather seats in the rear, and a huge amount of mods that I cant get my head round! Will add some photos!

Wanting to say Hello, and looking for enthusiasts, locals, meet and greets, possible off roaders and laners , I know absolutely no one around here and would like to get into the local scene and meet some people etc - not going to make this sound like a dating ad!! But drop me a PM or post.

Hello mate, we've got a couple of threads in the off road and green landing forums. There is bush farm near Saltash to have a blast around although I don't know of any up your neck of the woods.

Nice specs for your landy, just be careful of some ****s around lifting defenders from their owners, though I'm sure being a booty you'll be on security like a tramp on chips.

Hey Mate, Thanks for the comments and i will have to look that place up, Saltash isnt far at all! Going to look into some extra security! I have central locking and a gun, i need sometbing a little more reliable... any thoughts or threads that you know of? Still cant work out how to get photos up on here!!

Topsy.

A gun is good, even if you don't hit the bar stewards, they don't want to come back!

If you open an account on photo bucket, you can upload photos to that. When they are uploaded, you can then post the image URL onto here, it will show up this, but without the spaces

Topsy,

T0P5Y GET SOME SECURITY on that thing quick before it grows feet and disapears.

Disklock, clutch claw type thing for all the peddles. and a few other things.

have a look at Ratty's security thread and stolen defender thread, Most were stolen with just factory lock system, steering column lock.

Welcome and enjoy your stay

Hey Mate, it is fitted with a fair bit and also garaged, I am serving military and have a rather nice rifle to hand.

Topsy

Hope you've told you're insurance about the bolt on bits etc. in my experience they can be total ##** about them. A £150 snorkel can cost you more than that each year to insure. Let alone a winch!!

Yeh, Adrian Flux has a mod list and photos, they are excellent, 8 can pretty much add anything as long as i declare it and the price doesn't change, i can not recommend them enough!! I was quite surprised as its tuned to 180BHP and my insurance is next to nothing! They are aware of everything, even down to the blue LED light in the cigarette lighter!!

That's good to hear. I'm with them but purely by chance!
Come renewal so long as they don't take the P! As companies usually do with renewals I might see about snorkel and winch for mine 😄

I would be interested if your premium changes, I have a list of other things i want to do but i imagine there is a limit with insurance companies, You local then beh?

Im with A. Flux and my insurance cost stays the same regardless of things like snorkel, lift kit, bumpers, lights, tyres etc. Anything " performance enhancing " and price goes up.

Cheers Muckers! Trip onto Dartmoor is on the cards today, I took out the othet halfs Ifor 505 3.5t Horse box yesterday and wow! I must say I have pulled 5.5T boats across the Falkland Islands before but with this TD5 Alive tune I have, Wow! My first time using it to tow and wow!! No more sitting behind caravans uphill whilst towing!! Just need to find some good old offroad mud now!
