Right so I bought this big blue 90 and its been great..
but...
It seems to have a minimum of an inch of water in the rear indicators..
And when I brake hard I get two jets of water shoot down from the inside front of the roof..washing my door windows fantastically .

Is this a standard feature in a Landrover?

How can I modify it so it all dumps on the passenger seat?

How do the indicators suck so much water from the air?

The indicators should be sealed. Just buy new units, they're not expensive though avoid britpart as they're ####ing **** and melt themselves.

The internal water feature is standard on all land rovers. No need to worry about that

What's wrong with taking the lenses off, drain all thee water out, put a smear of vaseline on the rubber seals and then put them all back together again.

If they hold the water in they should be able to keep the water out ;) ;)

Why spend money unless you need to :D

What you have here is a very clever Landrover design feature.

the water in the indicator is an inbuilt bulb cooling system, because when indicators run twice as fast as normal due to the bad earths that inevitably happen the bulbs would run hot.

the cold water down the side does as you surmised clean the inside of the vehicle, this is because land rovers were designed as farm vehicles and all farmers never clean the inside of the vehicle, thus the need for internal self washing.

also as a side benefit all the cold water also increases safety by keeping the driver alert. Other car manufacturers now fit vibrating seats and alarms to monitor the driver, But LR got there first.

This is why landies are so awesome.

Cheers

Cheers for the replys.
I think I'll drain them and see if SeaDogs plan works.
Or.. I may drill holes and insert bendy straws(snorkel style) if that doesn't work I can always drink the water from the lights everyday thus gaining a handy supply of water(could come in handy on expeditions)(maybe not I live in Yorkshire where you can just open the window and your mouth for a drink ).
As for the odd roof water feature. I feel slightly less comfortable since my friend pointed out the water is probably my sweat condensing on the cold roof..

Also I might add that my indicators work fine until i decide to pull a dodgy turn!

I am enjoying owning Landrover but they do seem to have odd features.. is there anything else random i need to know about?

Have you had a look to make sure that the plastic shields are still fitted inside the rear of the wheel arch (they protect the wiring / light connectors from tyre spray)?

edit - scratch that idea, those covers only protect the lower lights (ind / reverse / fog)

the water that leaks into the cab and drips on your arm/steering wheel is a early anti fatigue system developed by landrover to refresh the driver on a long journey it is directly coupled to the drivetrain, steering and braking systems it also makes you go deaf and causes cramp in your spine

After a day of a couple of very good friends crawling all over my landrover like spiders its been put down to a dodgy flasher relay a majobby. And..a bad earth!
So that's everything except my rear window flailer working....
As for the water I think i may let I dry out itself(I dare not touch it as its all working fine)

Thank you once more..
