I've been concerned for a while about a clunk that happens when you pull away or change gear on my td5 110 county. I've just jacked up one side and with handbrake on tried to turn the wheel. There must be at least three inches of play!!! Any ideas gratefully taken on board before something breaks.

I have this same problem but when I checked the ujs they were solid, the play feels like it's inside the axle, any ideas?

Cheers Dan

Don't forget drive members - they can cause clonks when splines are worn.

Oops just notice Wolf has mentioned them already!

Mine does this too thought it could be the rear propshaft as when I bought it a couple of weeks ago now the front propshaft looks new so as I intend to use the landy for green laning I will replace it as a matter of course anyway but will also check the A frame ball joint aswell :)

Jack it up and check the play on the prop. I can't remember the figures exactly but this is the best place to check for play. You will always get play at the wheel and in the props but excessive play will hint at a problem somewhere
