Nice modern art :D :pound:

Yip, probably it's time to go to the closet and bring new one...
This one have 223000 km, still working fine (no noise) but more and more filings are shown when oil is changed (also oil is dark)

For example oil from PG1 is nice, gold and clean. Those were changed both at one time and have 27000 km

That's a pretty impressive IRD drain plug pic. Suprised the oil wasn't grey (metalic). Time for some new bearings I think!

Not worth. Too much cash to put it and effect is unpredictable. It can work for 1000 km, or 10000 or 100.

I need to replace pinion bearing - but no collapsible spacer is available - only with pinion casing. ~159 gbp
Need full set of bearings, seals ,pinion and crown ~270 gbp for overhaul kit.
New cooler is also needed ~120 gbp
And diff shims ~25 gbp

so we've got ~574 gbp in parts ,also you need to add a garage labour (remove, recondition and refit) so it bee another 100-150 pounds.
In total we have 674-724 gbp, and old IRD after 200K+ ODO.
for 942 inc VAT i got new OEM one with zero on clock.

Conclusions are simple... ;)

Discovered that the standard jack found in the boot is ideal for lifting big heavy metal gates off their mounting pins, my jack was brand new til today, never been out the box in 9 years!

Used the car as a van again, big wheeled generator/stick welder in the back travelling around the North East fixing things :D

After driving home and parking up, got out of the car and pressed the key fob to lock it - nothing.
Tried the unlock button expecting to unlock the passenger door etc. - nada.
Tried the key in the lock - no central locking!
Popped the bonnet - negative battery cable not connected!

I guess I didn't tighten it enough after checking gearbox solenoids at the weekend.
At least it waited until I got home! :D

how much did that cost you to do as i have the plastic rubbish as nodge calls it lol

£33 for a piece of 1000mm x 600mm x 3mm including delivery.

Used a Sharpie to trace the plastic tray, jigsaw & metal blade to cut it out, drilled the holes, used the shed vice to bend the end cos its a tough old cookie & riveted it to the original frame.

Changed my front propshaft. I no longer have massage seats! Back to a nice smooth ride. You don't realise how bad something is untill you change it. It has made me notice other things to spend my money on now though. Engine mount next I think.

On a slightly different note, does anyone know what's the minimum sized spacer to fit old style wheels, I think its 5mm? I wouldn't mind another set of h&r spacers but they are mighty expensive
