Rust on Common rail 2013 Defender 90

One thing to watch on these if they have the same oil cooler as Transits is they are prone to splitting!

Not an issue if the oil leaks into the water like it did on ours, possible new engine time if they leak the other way.

Not a problem under warranty, but beware as they are a poor design!

Just had an email off the service manager at Land Rover they said the parts are cast and with all the damp we've had this is normal? What does cast mean?

Nice wheels by the way :)
 
Cast means cast iron. When we machine it a work we have to coat it almost immediately as you get surface rust almost straight away.

If you look at brake discs they do the same.
The rust will almost brush off, so it's not something to worry about to much, just keep your eye on it.
