See my essay below. In a nutshell, £1300 as she is or £1500 with all the spare bits and bobs included. Yes :nopics: but its dark when I leave for work and dark when I come home. I'll take it work and take some photos at lunchtime this week.

Range Rover Classic Vogue SE 3.9 V8i Auto 1990 in Ardennes Green

116k MOT May 2014, Tax May 2014

I have owned this Range Rover since summer 2013 and this is a very reluctant sale due to our second child being due in April and I will just not have the time or space to use and appreciate her (plus I've pushed the missus as far as I can go on this one). I’ve sorted lots of bits on her (the Rangey :D) and she’s overall a very solid, very fun and very comfortable Rangey that I will miss dearly.

Leather interior, electric front seats, CD player (sounds great), heated front screen, electric windows, central locking (spare keys included), ABS, power steering.

Lots of history and receipts for all sorts of things. Original service book stamped up to 50k miles, owners manual, lots of other original bits and bobs, spare keys etc… V5 in my name.

Service History from HR Owen Main Dealer as follows
Aug 1990 1618 miles
April 1991 7170 miles
March 1992 15644 miles
August 1992 21345 miles
January 1993 27920 miles
August 1993 35775 miles
February 1994 42153 miles
December 1994 52502 miles

I have receipts for lots of stuff including

Fuel tank (2005)
Stainless brake pistons (2006)
Stainless brake hoses (2005)
EBC Green stuff pads all round and EBC Grooved discs (2005)
Full brake pipe set (2005)
Ignition switch (2007)
Electric seat motors (2007)
Water Pump (2013)
Front ball joint repair kits, panhard bushes (2013)

It also has front and rear diff guards plus a fuel tank guard.

The engine – Very sweet 3.9 hotwire injection V8. It has a full stainless exhaust with tubular headers. The middle box was removed by Longlife exhausts and a stainless straight through pipe put in, in September. She sounds absolutely fantastic, but is perhaps not to everyone’s taste. The stainless middle box is included if its too loud for the buyer, an exhaust centre can refit this in 30 mins. Its very quiet with this back on. I can’t verify the following, but I was told the engine was a genuine replacement part at some point in the vehicles past. It certainly runs very smoothly with lots of power and with no ticking or tapping sounds. Its just had a brand new coil, plugs, HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor so starts every time first time:D. Had a replacement radiator and head gaskets in 2013 (they hadn’t blown, P/O had a blocked rad and misdiagnosed a blown head gasket). I fitted a replacement starter motor from a newer GEMS V8 in Nov 2013 and it has a new heat shield fitted to it. The battery was new June 2013. What can I say, I love everything about this engine, it’s a real treat to drive. Not been messed about with on LPG either.

Drivetrain all sound. No axle or transmission whines or oil leaks, box is smooth, swivels are immaculate no leaks, it has a full polybush kit on front and rear suspension. The Boge self-leveller works (a rarity!). There is some play in the A-frame ball-joint but it is an adjustable one so just needs tightening up (I just haven't had time). The car comes with a brand new Bearmach spare A-frame ball joint that I bought just in case it needs changing. It has aftermarket shocks front and rear (Monroe etc).

Chassis is solid as a rock as you would expect. No leaks into the interior, windscreen rubber has some silicone along it to help keep water out. ABS accumulator, pump and block all in perfect order. All the tyres are good and you have a choice of whether to have the grey 3 spokes (all in good condition) or the original colour coded 3 spokes (which are peeling some lacquer). Both sets have A/T tyres, M+S. Spare has heaps of tread and comes with jack, chocks and wheel brace.

If you know your RRCs then you will want to know the condition of the following;
Drivers sill – Very solid, no rot, waxoyled Sep 2013.
Passenger sill – Rust cut out and new welded in, painted with galv spray and waxoyled inside and out Sep 2013. Now solid but some exterior bits are crusty. Front section has a hole which has been treated with fertan and painted with hammerite, then waxoyled inside and out.
Rear arches – solid, no rust or rot. Passenger side has a small section cut out at the bottom which has been treated, painted and waxoyled. New piece of steel welded into main arch, adjacent to this, tiger sealed, painted and waxoyled.
Rear X-member – Rust on one side which was cut out and new steel welded in, painted, tiger sealed up and cavity waxoyled inside and out. Some crust and small hole on front facing side, but been treated and waxed.
Front footwells – rust removed, fresh steel welded in on small section on passenger side (50p sized) and postcard sized on drivers side. Painted, sealed and waxed.
Front body mounts and bulkhead – Body mounts treated, painted and waxed, very solid. Bulkhead has a rust patch in centre near bonnet, been treated and waxed.
Front inner arches – solid, undersealed and painted, any surface rust treated or hammerited.
Rear boot floor and side panels – Very rear section of floor and support are crusty. Two small holes on side floor section (drivers side) which just require cutting out and new steel welding in. Easy job (I have just run out of time).
The entire underside and both axles have been schutz undersealed in the past.
Small patch on windscreen that has been treated and waxoyled.
Rear lower tailgate is ok but has some rust as you would expect. Two small dints. Top tailgate is mint and surely a replacement new item.
Bodywork is fine with no dents or anything major, but some cosmetic scratches here and there.
It’s a very solid Rangey and ideal as an easy project whilst still using her on the road.

Some issues
The sunroof has been siliconed up as it was leaking. It needs the drains washed through and sorting. Its currently disconnected.
The blower motor is stuck. It pulls current but I think there is either a leaf jamming it or it just needs freeing up.
ABS light comes on sometimes. This is due to a slight amount of play in front n/s swivel top bearing. It just needs a shim taken out, I haven’t got round to this. The brakes work very well and pull her up no problem. It had two new front wheel bearings in 2013.
Its had a recent rear tailgate top which is in great condition, but the rear heated screen hasn’t been hooked back up to its elements (needs soldering).
A/C system was removed but its all there to go with it bar the evaporator, which was too far gone to keep.
The speedo sometimes stops working after 20 (warm day) to 40 mins (cold day) driving. I’ve traced this to the drive cable from the transducer to the trans case being too close to the exhaust and getting hot, expanding and losing drive. It just needs some tape wrapping round the exhaust, which I will include with the sale.

If the buyer pays the right price for her I will include a replacement heater matrix with blower motor ready to exchange the current one (should the blower motor be not serviceable in situ), a very good aluminium rear floor from a late 80s 4 door with rubber trim and metal cover plate, a full set of 4 Britpart yellow springs with very low miles on them from another vehicle (they are barely marked), a tested working replacement ABS ECU (which I bought in error) and a good lower tailgate in Ardennes Green that only had some minor surface rust and has been treated, primered and just needs a bit of paint from a rattle can and a cavity waxoyl. I have a box of some spares too (spare dizzy, MAF sensor, workshop manual, dog guard + lots of bits) and it currently has my dual battery system fitted (split charge Durite diode with back EMF, 100 amp mega fuses, jump start bypass, fat cables and 72ah leisure battery) but these, as with the above items, will only go with it for the upper asking price.

Any questions please ask, I’ve prattled on far too long. I’m really sad to have to sell her but needs must. I don’t want a lot for her, she is a good example for very little money. You could break her and get more than what I want, no worries, but don't do that!

With all the parts above, dual battery system and box of spares, £1500.

As she is, without the dual battery system or any of the spares apart from the A-frame ball joint (I’ll throw in service items like oil filters, belts and gaskets plus the Haynes manual), £1300.
