Their "vat free" (20% off) events always end up being REALLY expensive... :( Still... lots of new toys!

It's 10% off everything else too :)

I find Clarke stuff works generally quite well, i've had a Clarke welder for years, still going strong

yeah i am looking at a new dewalty drill and a evolution chopsaw to.......
my brother is doing up his house and is going to 'add to the order' and 'pay me back' lol

Pillar battery or mains drill?

I have a nice dewalt battery drill, great bit of kit!

If your bro is doing a house up tell him to get a Trade Point card at BnQ - makes materials dirt chap (wood, p/b, etc.)

looking at an SDS+ dewalt, had a cheap SDS and shagged the clutch when the bit 'bit'

Dont have space for a pillar drill but might get one of those stands to convert a normal drill for the odd occasion i need one.

I used to have a stand but could never quite be bothered to set it up... I now have a proper pillar and, for me, it's worth every penny, but, i do a lot of drilling for my little buisness, so, can justify it.

I'm still running my titan STS which came from Screwfix a very long time ago, doubt it would survive every day use, but, it's done 1 complete house renoavation, 2 people's house modifications and now on my next house and it's getting lots of stick!

Shows you how much markup/profits are in there prices

I have been using one of these for about 5 years now - Clarke MIG151EN Turbo 'No-Gas' MIG Welder.
Works on almost everything, indoors and outdoors, Landy or VW or trailer.

I love it and don't have to worry about gas canisters.

yeah i did look at that, for the small amount i weld i found 600g c02 cylinders ok, could always get one of those rent free cylinders if i had a big project (unlikely)

Hmm lots to think about, as i would like a sliding mitre saw aswell.....

Myself i find gas better. If you go for the gas welder i would use co2 and argon mixed gas as i find it a nicer weld.

yeah deffo prefer gas over non-gas. its easier to see for a start. yeah i have a gas/argon mix at the mo that i brought as there wasnt any c02 at my local supplier. seems to make for a smoother weld, like i mean looks more neat when finished

I love and hate Machine Mart in equal measure. Love because I am like a kid in a sweetie shop when I go in. Hate it because if ever anything you buy goes wrong, they never just exchange it. It has to "Go to the workshop" for some halfwit to tell me what I know is wrong with it in the first place. They then give you a repaired one or replacement, that you have to travel back to the shop again to collect..
