Anyone else got this shaped hole in chassis cos it certainly hasn't rotted that shape, it's by the o/s/f spring and I don't know if to fill it or not. All ideas or comments welcomed.

Your only worried about that hole....That looks like something dragged up from the bottom of the sea:eek:

It's the shape of the hole I can't work out,it looks more shaped the rotted. I can see that the spring seat needs replacing but I can't work out of the hole needs repairing or if it should be there in some form or another

A clean up might well reveal some other stuff that needs doing, it looks pretty hanging under there!
Get the wire out before welding, seen a few melted before ;)

The only rot is the jagged bits on the right hand side of the hole the rest of it is smooth and feels like it was cut into the chassis so I don't know whether to cut it and fill it at opposed to just welding a plate over the top of it, I'll be cutting the spring seat off it tomorrow and replacing that

chassis is made of more than one layer ,your outer one has gone there :boink:

either plate over it or better grind a large area of outer plate away and replace with fresh, though it all looks past best to say the least

Right, a bit more progress made today, until my angle grinder gave up the ghost:mad:

the inside looks ok and feeling around inside there'e no rust in there,

On the plus side though I have recently purchased one of these little airsaws

It makes short work of removing a knackered footwell with the pedals still in place

So off tomorrow to buy some steel, a new spring seat and a new angle grinder:eek:

Good on you mate. Get all that **** cut away, and some good plate welded in there. Hows your welding skills?

bit late but this shows the internal make up that explains what your seeing....

That's a pretty good gadget you've got there, not made as much progress as I wanted today but this is as far as I got.

Welder and sprayer coming out of the shed tomorrow, I'll report in when done...
