i'm well aware of land rover corrosion issues, additional rust proofing is on the list of 'to do's'.

Whats the best cure for the leak then? find the source obviously and cure, and then waterproof electrics(wd40?)
The Official Land Rover fix (and I kid you not) was to place a plastic bag - with the Land Rover logo on - over the kit to prevent water getting to it from above....doesn't stop the condensation from below mind...

Even LR are not 100% sure where the leak is from, it has been mooted it is the seam between the C pillar and the roof.

Cheers for the heads up, sorry i'm a bit old school this is the newest car i've had.

Nice budget solution ha ha.

Whilst we're on the subject is there a paper manual available? like a bentley or something? haynes don't do 1 i've seen some workshop ones on ebay on cd but i always prefer an actual book.

a Tesco bag is just as good. However, if water is allowed to accumulate in the well, condensation will still kill the electronics.
This is a Range Rover dear boy. One's Butler will be instructed to use no less than a Waitrose bag to insulate the electronics from Solihull's assembly skills.

Make sure you have AA/RAC recovery, you will need it.

I must second this. I've called them no less than 10 times, especially when i had that spat of dead battery every morning. or the time when i had a flat tyre (and the air susp was inactive at the time.)

A note about the air suspension, I got the LR supplied jack out to change the wheel & it wasn't having any of it, i'm sure there's a proceedure, locking it on lowest setting (RAC guy said highest this made no sense?, stupid p38 owner :p) (by pressing the button on the height selector at desired height) and jacking it, i could be wrong

So he patched it and we drove home (sidewall puncture, eek) when i went to get the tyres done (£1,200 < do this sooner rather than later)

At the tyre place they lifted the car up and up and up until the suspension could extend no more. Saint.V8 had told me that this would be the case but **** me has anyone ever seen how high this is? (again my air susp was inactive) they did the tyres & the car didn't lower again, i had to (and i'm 6ft 4) actually climb up to the car < no this really isn't a joke.. i felt like i was climbing a wall. it went down after.

Blasted air suspension problems could've killed me.

Is it just me or as soon as ANYONE ever buys an L322 the air susp goes inactive within a damn week, why is that? i bought two L322's this year & both did within a week.

after all the cost & problems, Easily the best cars i've ever owned, you're going to love it the most when a "chav" comes up alongside in some silly little piece of ****e, these are some of the best memories i have,

Or as another member pointed out, how smug you can be in the snow even with stock tyres...

This is a bit of a long winded post, wasn't meant to be sorry. but these cars are awesome & just adding my two cents about RAC cover..

ha ha, so there pretty awesome just brace yourself for repair bills, get breakdown cover(already have this) and do as much as you can yourself to stop it breaking down. when they're wrong they're a pain in the arse, but when they're right they're right type thing?

:)

well it happened. On way to Leeds(t'other side of border lol) and the top hose fractured at the join. lots of steam etc got over into hard shoulder and killed the engine just before it got into the 'red' zone. all sorted now had it recovered to A1 land rover in Bury(very good they were to).

The rest of the hoses will be replaced in due course and i've been advised to ease off the lpg(tank of petrol and a tank of lpg) so will try to run on petrol as much as possible. Good to have her back(even if it was only just over 24 hours).

Doesn't the engine run hotter on LPG?

Marginal if tuned correctly. If there are issues with the cooling system running LPG or petrol wont make a difference to the outcome.
Plenty of garages have no experience or are ill informed when it comes to LPG systems & can be a little 'prejudiced' shall we say:rolleyes:

well so maybe but i'd rather not take the chance and the arguement they were never built for lpg is a convincing one, I'm not saying that the breakdown was all down to the lpg, far from it. I will be taking the garages advice though and easing off it. as i say from now on, 1 tank of petrol and 1 tank of lpg.

I think it was just age of the pipes and connections. its nearly ten years old and i did gun it re joining the motorway, if it has'nt been opened up for a while its not suprising really that something went, just glad it was'nt something more serious.

As i say i'm not blaming lpg for what happened, it was just a piece of advice which i have chosen to heed.

Ideal RR customer, believe an ill-informed mechanic, Lpg runs a little hotter, but paradoxically is lower cetane value so easier on drivetrain.

Been running my L322 on LPG for 16 months everyday....only use petrol for starting and when i run out of LPG before I get to a pump.

No issues at all.

The BMW M62 engine converts well to LPG...the Jag V8 from 2006 onwards doesnt do so well on gas....

Think you need to do some research on LPG forums and get the benefit of other users before you take the garages word for it!
