amongst other jobs weve been doin on my m8s bobtail 300tdi rr we converted the aircon pump with air line connections and connected it up via a switch and with a filter, and hey presto onboard tyre inflator

we even tried some air tools and it ran them

nice easy conversion aswell:D

I would save it for emergency use only, air con pumps use the oil mixed in with the refrigerant for lubrication purposes. I assume you now have no oil in the system so the pump will die at some stage.

wouldn't use anything else as the aircon pump was already there and he didn't need aircon so why use summit else

unit can be oiled if req and has a small filter fitted to it

if it don't last too long it don't matter as it wasn't being used anyway..but nice to make use of summit

it will last a good time its only turning when you switch it on and with oiler as long as you want it to

Its said to kick out 13cfm! I got the best ac unit to use as oba. I inflated my 37 inch tyres from flat 0psi to 28psi in around 38 seconds. AT TICKOVER! The airline was 1/2 inch around 3 meters long and could not push the air in fast enough past the valve. Seriously impressed but am fitting a tank underneath and have a manifold all mounted up with pressure relief valve, pressure switch. The problem you will face is heat and lots of it. Trying to put a air cooler coil in mine pre manifold but finding it hard to mount nicley. I have got pirtek Seriously high pressure and serious temp hose but still I'd prefer to lose the heat. It will run air tools and all sorts with the air tank.

sorry to high jack the thread but if someone else wishes to try this I am selling a 300 tdi air-con pump and pipes in the parts for sale section. I don't normally like spam but saving for new boots for the disco so needs must :D
