Hello all!

Been looking through all the other posts to no avail so here goes!!!

When I'm driving along in the wife's Freelander the strangest thing happens on a regular basis.

ALL the gauges stop working, Fuel, Temp, Rev counter, Speedo. All the lights come on, HDC, Handbrake, TC, etc.

You can feel a slight loss of power when this happens, then all of a sudden they all start working again. ( HDC and TC lights always stay on afterwards though).

Can go on a 50 mile journey and it doesn't happen, or go 5 miles and it happens 10 times!!

Has anyone else every heard of this????

My friend reckons it might be the ignition switch??

All help would be really appreciated!!!

Colin.

I would be looking at an earth fault as this happened on my old disco as the body rotted way on the earth side from the battery, its worht checking.

Right, here goes.

Problem solved!

Turns out the actual instrument cluster itself had suffered an 'electrical spike'.

Land Rover wanted £560 for a replacement but I managed to get one on eBay for £25.

Mileage etc must be stored in the actual ECU because when I put the new cluster in the mileage was spot on and the lights no longer came on!

Result! Hope this helps somebody else out one day!
