Hi guys a friend of mine had a military land rover stolen.. As you would expect after months it never returned, whilst speaking to a chap that works at a local naval base he suggested leaving a piece of paper of the dashboard addresses to yourself but with a paragraph or two about your heroism in afghan and how killing 48 troops means you earn a medal or some sort. The second time his landy was nearly stolen he fitted a keypad similar to what's fitted in older peugeots and justs leaves the letter just above so when they glance at the keypad.. As stupid as this sounds it's main purpose is to take the concentration. Off the two very thin cables attached to the brake and clutch pedals the wires attach to a black shotgun cartridge firing device which makes a hell of a noise.. You can buy these devices from farm shops and from what my friend tells me about the chunk of hair left of his door frame, it scared the theif and he lives in peace knowing a shotgun cartridge going off at 3 in the morning is enough to deter .....

I still like and prefer the hidden baby alarm transmitter mentioned in another thread. Good enough to wake you up and inform the police there is a crime in progress.

:D

Oh yes. I have seen those devices. However. Their use in the manner you speak of is...... er rather dodgy?
But trust me. I WOULD use one on private land as a perimeter alarm as they are intended....
However having my 90 recently stolen - stripped - and used to make a 'ringer' to sell on ebay (see previous posts  ) i wouldnt use blanks!!!!!

Something i am looking at is a siren within the vehicle - loud enough to cause nausea etc.

Deadlocks will be fitted again. But I will also use security bolts for the door hinges.
They got in the rear of mine somehow. Used bolt cutters thru the security std full height load guard to get into the cab. As the doors were almost new - they wanted them - so had to attack the deadloocks frm both sides.....rear tub was mangled by the ₩@€##.
Pedal locks. Handbrake-5th gear lock too. (They released handbrake frm under and rolled her away :hurt: )
Remove steering wheel and put my own friggin wheel clamp on.....

Still tinkering with the flip up steel claw that rips their...............off. ;)

Jesus sounds like you had everything fitted!

I i like the 12G blank idea. Could probly also be rigged into the doors.

One thing to add if you where to strip the blank down and add a small amount of magnesium it would also create a blinding flash

I like the idea. But wonder if you could replace the blank with a salt cartridge- just enough to take a bit of skin off, therefore leaving behind a bit of DNA! Thieving scum!

Deadlocks and chain it via chassis or rear axle to the drive, sirens a good idea though or rigging an airhorn (my standard horn) to go off, may get a second air horn just to increase the noise output and have the second one wired to an alarm system only with the output being in the cab within the seatbox ;)

As I said in my thread, keep this out the front

I think if you had 3 pieces only slightly longer with each piece if 3 went off I seriously think ears would start to bleed and your neighbours would be pretty suspicious hearing 3 shotgun rounds going off as it has been said here lots of times you won't stop them if they got a hiab or another landie to tow off with once rolled away the baby monitor is a fantastic idea my fiancée mother and father use one at their house where bikes are locked in a shed in 23 years only had one false alarm

Almost! She shrugged off a previous attempted breakin a year before.
I had grills. Deadlocks and secret switch.

A lot of security systems are designed to prevent theft from and thus hinder theft of.

Nothing to stop someone releasing handbrake from underneath and rolling onto a trailer - or winched.

So pedal locks AND handbrake to gearbox in 5th, tracking system. Safari grills, deadlocks and a gillotine will be the order of the day.
The baby alarm is a no brainer. So simple. Usually the best.
K.i.s.s as they say. Same as my motors! :D

Or as the farmer said to me.."why dont u leave her in yr lock up when u arent driving her?"

:scratching_chin:

I have a friend who exports stuff and anything agri or commercial fetches 4 times what it is worth here so you can see why some one these b3st4rds take so much time and trouble to nick your beloved land rover

I have a very thick chain that i wrap around the back of the brake pedal and through the steering wheel and a meaty padlock think they would have a job getting through that

I'd love to bolt an ex-British Rail two-tone siren to the rear bulkhead behind the front seats of my 90 - you know the one... that rang out with absurd volume as an Intercity 125 was about to exit a tunnel in the 1980's?

Just imagine it - you'd wake up with a jolt upon hearing it at 3 am, crapping yourself with laughter as you staggered down the stairs and out into the cold air to stuff the shocked looking corpse into a binbag.

:hippie:

Just a note on the blank alarms they do not always fire, I've had 3 or four now and if you test them they are far from 100%. I made my own by way of a weighted sliding block for perimeter protection. Works every time.
