That nothing. Last year I slightly bumped into a speeding police car and this was the damage

And this is it after I repaired it.

It amazes me the amount of cars being written off as cat c or d when there basically sweet f.a. Up with them.
I bought a cat c 206 gti 180 for summit to get my speed fix in when it's too icy or wet for my motorbike.......had no trouble insuring it at all.
By the looks of it from the photo it would be back on the road with a new mot for less than £200.

If you are going to break/scrap it.
Take the props and viscous coupling off. It will still drive in 2 wheel drive but you should raise a couple hundred quid quickly just for those items on eBay.

Easy things to remove before scrap man comes. Headlights, tail lights, grills, wing mirrors will all generate a fair amount of bunce in your pocket.

If it has roof bars also a good sale.

Any accessories, side steps, rubber mats, load covers all easy to remove and sell quick.

If you fancy getting more adventurous with the stripping.

Door latches, tailgate window mechanism, tailgate rear outer handle are also quick moving.

After removing these bits you can still weigh in the scrap for £150-£175 depending on scrap price on the day.

What is damaged exactly. Just looks like bike slid under front cracking some plastic. Are you sure radiator is damaged? I think you should get a quote to fix it up. There must be loads of parts floating round scrap yards etc.
If you sell it then someone is going to be laughing all the way.

Its a td4 put it on ebay , you will be surpised at what it will go for !! if had been a 1.8 or V6 then it would be a different matter altogether .
If you dont want the bother pm me what you think you want and Ill make you an offer I already have two ;)

Shame its not a year earlier. I need a new engine and that will cost me £350+ turbo if i need it. I could do with finding a CAT C writeoff!

Just posted an drivers airbag off today, £10 plus postage so very cheap.

Most profitable easily removed parts to sell are rear tailgate handle, roof rails and door mirrors if complete with backs. To be honest at the moment with most other parts business is very slow.

Grills, headlights, tail lights are a waste of time and do not fetch much at all.

When I fix up my landy it was due for its MOT. I went to the MOT garage and asked them about the airbag light being on. They said it won't fail but you will get an advisory. But I did have the new air bags in and seat belts, just needed the airbag ecu thingy replacing.

Have you seen where the airbag ECU is situated?

I believe it is buried somewhere behind the dash. I had the MOT done first while I could then the car was booked in a few days later to have the ecu thingy replaced. I was going to do it myself till I read the Haynes manual and the idea of removing the dash and blower motor horrified me really. Garage did the job in about 2-3hrs. The dash looked like it did not come off as there are no scuff marks around the fixing areas. So I think they must have gone in from the passenger airbag side. But that is a guess though. So all done now :)
