you are having a laugh aren't you?

this fred is a waste of time, they are all generally fooked in one way or another, thats why we love em, would have to talk to the wife at weekends otherwise ;)

mines got a huge fuel leak through the engine.

bloody nightmare, fuel just disappears when you start the engine.

I know what that is. There will be 8 holes in your engine. The ones I have seen are between 3.5 to 4.9 cubic centimeters. The best way to fix it that I have found is take the top off and fill them with that expanding foam stuff. When you do it though be carefull not to let too much ooze out the side, its really messy.

Ah ok then, sounds like a nice fix.

I noticed there are access holes in the engine which lead to these larger holes you speak of.

They have a little white blanking plug screwed into them to seal it up.

I reckon it would be easier to squirt it through there?

Or do I really need to let the foam expand before I put the top of the engine back on?

I know the blanking plugs to which you refere. They do not actually do anything, my 300tdi does not have them and she runs fine. I personally think they're something added by these off road modders. Real shame really it spoils a nice engine.

Anyway, I did try it once through one of the orifices but it just does not work. You see expanding foam is just 'lquid in a can', it needs maximum air exposure to be able to expand. You see it sucks in air in order to 'puff' up so the head has to come off. A point I forgot to make earlier is to wear some kind of rebreather while you do it as it sucks in the air at a tidy rate. You would not want to sufficate!

Got a plan.

Could park the car with the rear end out of the garage. Then, when the heads are off, I can breathe through each one of the exhaust primaries whilst foaming that particular cylinder!

That way I won't suffocate!! :D

rear windows and locks don't work
exhuast just started blowing from manifold
flexi on the cat is fubbarrred
clock don't work
seat switches work intermittently
Syncro's are fubarred on 2nd and 3rd
Boot door leaks
door seals dunt work (tried n tested, they let water in but not out  )
I ain't even looked at the sills!
front axle doesn't have abs cos i couldn't get an abs axle n my original axle's in the shed waiting to be rebuilt...
