running diff lock in snow, this ok?

My 98 TD5 Defender has TC.

I'm going to fit the Detroit locker that came with the motor to the rear axle this summer.

Also having center difflock engaged would it not help it slow down using the gears more predictable in snow?

Why's it ****e then? Is it not the same system that's on the Pumas?

Also just using the footbrake as you are less likely to lock a wheel

Why on earth would you not have your c.diff locked at all times on snow?! You will have more control, there is zero risk of wind up on snow AND your center differential will suffer less wear when locked on slippery surfaces.

Too late you will now dig a hole down to it's axles

You need to engage the diff lock before you loose traction and disengage when the difficult bit has been passed

Personally I don't see how you are going to get much wind up with just a centre diff lock on a slightly slippery surface or worse with front and rear diffs locked it is a very different story. For example my front diff is slow to release and makes turning 90 deg on dry or damp tarmac a 7 point turn and the steering is a proper work out and springs violently back to centre or the centre of the new diff centre so almost un drivable on the road
