Ok so next job on my never ending freebie (x reg ES late 2000) jobs is my knackered cracked aircon pipe. Looking down at the left of rad, looks like it's made of ally and from what the sticker says it's part no:JUF000130 which kind of matches up with the pic below. Are there any suppliers out there apart from museums!? Or has anyone got a spare one they want a few pints for?

The pipe has a split/crack very near the bottom end near where the number 9 is but I'm sure what I need is the whole of part no: 7.

eta...one day it'll be easy for one and all to put a damn picture on a forum. Anyway perhaps the link will work instead....

Either try a breaker or if you look in your local Yellow Pages/Google for "Pirtek"-they can & do repair aircon hoses for much less than a new one from a Stealer. They have TIG welding facilities which enables them to weld aluminium. It depends whether the pipe has a long crack or small hole-I have used them before and found them to be most helpful. Remove the hose and drop it into their local branch for an assement.

** I have no affiliation with Pirtek-have just had good service from them in the past**

I should have lots of them and I will have a look on Monday. Is it the short pipe (item 7) which goes from the condenser to the air cond. pump?

Very kind of you sir! And yes, it's basically everything within that no:7 diagram. The whole hose/pipe is a bendy 18" long roughly. Not sure I need the o rings too but if you've got them then great.

:)

eta....actually the wider part of the pipe is black hose as pictured.

If you can sort your pipe you will need to fit a new dryer too as the dryer in there will be contaminated ;)

Great, thanks! No honestly thanks for the info Nodge,as always, but is that a definite or a maybe?

Definitely ;) they are really sensitive to moisture in the air. They are fitted to absorb any moisture that could get in when the system is maintained, there will always be a small un-avoidable amount of air in the valves no matter how careful the technician is. This air will contain moisture which would degrade the system and could even over pressurize it!! This is what the dryer is for. As your system has been open the atmosphere the dryer will be scrap ;)

Had a look today and have several in stock but forgot to take my camera so I could photograph for you to have a look at. Will photo tomorrow and let you know.

Nice one videoman. Pm me when you're sorted. Also if you have a dryer that Nodge is going on about above then that'll be great.

Xreg 2000 onwards.

Better late than never, is this the pipe you require? £10.00 posted.

From what Nodge68 says you would always need a new dryer if you have had a leak from a pipe or component and lost the gas in the system, never heard of this before after selling many air cond. machines several years ago when I worked for a garage equipment company.

Normally the dryer will last the life of the vehicle but if the AC system has been left open to the atmosphere for any length of time it will no longer dry the system correctly. For the price of it it's well worth changing ;)

Does anyone know the part number for the dryer for a 2005 td4. Or is it the same as above. Mine has never worked since I have had it now I want it working again.

I think they are all the same. Why doesn't it work? Is it open to the atmosphere or could it be low on pressure?

Yea that looks the right one. Videoman pm me your address to post cheque to unless you have paypal. Dont suppose its got the orings with it, basically rubber (i think) washers each end?

No gas in it at all. So very low pressure. On hot days a bit of pressure must build up a bit because when I turn the a/c on the clutch kicks in and the rev needles moves just a bit. I know there will be leaks I just want to see if it is do-able or more to the point affordable. Oh thanks for the reply.

If it works on a hot day then it's just down on gas. For a cheap fix pop it down to a local AC specialist for a quote. It's not as expensive as you might think ;)
