Hi All.
My Freelander is at the Landrover Centre here in Zimbabwe for a ECU change.
Vehicle went in on Monday this week. They phone me on Tuesday and tell me it is better to do a diagnostic test before they fit and programme the new ECU.
Today is Friday!! I have phoned them everyday since tuesday to find out how the diagnostic went.
I keep getting told that they are still busy running the diagnostic test on my car.
Now even if they are using a Special Landrover diagnostic machine and software, surely it does not take 4 days to go through the vehicle.
The on board computers are not exactly space shuttle hardware and soft ware.

Does anyone know how long a full diagnostic on a landrover should take using Land rover Diagnostic hardware and software?

I think i am being jerked around by Land rover Zimbabwe.

2 hours at the most, based on a P38 with more complex systems to read any faults.
Depends which ECU is being "Reprogrammed", if it's the CCU- I would think 2 hours would be more than enough time using Test Book.

Thanks Guys. I thought as much. Most places in Zim have Broadband so it should not take too long to download stuff.
Have just phoned again and asked the Workshop Foreman what is going on. Was told the same thing again "They busy doing the Diagnostics" I got quite irrate with him and told him a F&*king Diagnostic does not take 4 bloody days to complete. He then tells me they are doing manual tests on the vehicle. Will phone the companies General Manager on Monday if there is no progress.

Test Book is a standalone system which does not use an internet connection. These Stealers are taking the p*ss and simply cranking up the meter which calculates the bill you are expected to pay.
If your original ECU was shot, and I am assuming it was the CCU-if I had the software, it would take no more than 30 minutes to "Clone" it from the original, or worst case scenario, to write the data and do a security learn.

Maybe there is a LR allocated time for the process on RAVE but you need to tell us exactly which ECU they have/are replacing and the model of F/lander.

They are changing the Engine ECU on a UK spec V6 ;)
