Much as I've been poo pooing the snow on Facebook, it's been snowing hard here in Harlow for the last couple of hours and starting to pitch on the roads around the depot, soon be time to practice my drifting skills in an artic

Fishtailing is much more fun.

Especially when there is a meatheaded trucker that won't let you in.

Ha ha i've had many a fight and won. :D :D

Not all of us truckers are meatheads, it's your train driver mentality expecting the roads to be as clear as the railways that's the problem :p:p:D:D

I know exactly what you mean buddy. I was an agency artic driver for a good few years until I moved to the dark side.

Have you done your CPC yet? I am not sure whether to do it or actually much about it.

Ah the dreaded Driver CPC, I've done three of the five modules legally required so far, you have to complete 5 x 7hr modules to make up 35hrs of training by September 2014.
I think it's a very good idea for those who are new to the industry and lack knowledge and experience, it's also a good for old hands like me to be refreshed on some of the new rules and regs that have quietly slipped in.
It's a pain in the arse but a necessary one according to the powers that be in Brussels ;)

I agree that generally it is not a bad idea... just wish it was more structured. Choosing 5 different modules out of say 8 or 10 and having to do one a year- rather than being able to take the same one 5 times in the same week just to tick the proverbial box! :(
Bet the costs go up this year too... as the PCV drivers need to have done the 5 by Sept 2013!

done all of them and got the card :D
ive been a lorry driver for 18yrs this should only be for them thats passin there test now i think ,, but like you said there is one or two things that we did not know on the new rules n regs.. i know a lad that went to one give them his money and got all 5 for one day lol thats the way id would of liked it ...:D

Although to be honest I'd like to see an 'Large Vehicle Awareness' course made compulsory for those who drive smaller vehicles, there are too many out there who just do not appreciate the room an HGV takes to manoeuvre or the blind spots where they cannot be seen.....how many even know that a modern artic on six disc braked axles with ABS/EBD/EBS can stop just as quick as a car in certain circumstances??

Keepin me fingers crossed that the snow has fecked off next week so I can still get down south :(

just been out on a snow run today as no work :) and bloody hell its deep up by the dams  put it this way the snow won had to turn back and head for home ,,was over my bonnet,, :( just hopin its not like that for next wkend :( or we wont get anywhere up there :(
