Northern france overland trip advice...

Me and a few friends are thinking of going to northern france for a little overland trip, well, we have had the idea but im trying to research and see if there is actually anything worth doing over that way or am I going to be just as well doing it in a car?

Are there any good routes, idealy historic? I havent done an overland trip before just stayed in the UK so does anyone know how the system works re: equivalent of greenlanes etc?

Any advice is appreciated

Hi,

It is actually quite difficult to drive off road in France, nevertheless some tracks are still opened.

Best thing to do if you speak some French is to join www.landmania.com and ask for specific regions, the guys are quite helpful.

If you do not speak French at all, tell me about regions and dates, I will post something on your behalf.

(cannot join, my rig is currently in Livingstone, Zambia, I join it next month for a six weeks break).

Gold beach via Pegasus Bridge to Cean :lol: If you've got time to spare, through the low lands to Nijmegen, hop across the Rhine and onto Berlin for Christmas. But in all seriousness, theres loads to do in normandy. While there the Bayeux Tapestry is well worth a visit.

There are some good routes in central massive area but I believe you need permits to green lane in France. Thinking of doing it myself next year as I have toured Europe many times on the bike, this year will be in the lotus 7 so will have to take the disco next year.

Yeah,Manu is a real good guy.also look for Jenson on the same TeamLand 85 site,he's English & knows a lot of useful stuff.
