Thanks all for recent posts of suspicions etc. Have forwarded them on to AVCIS.

They recently told me they were due to pay a visit to a couple of new owners of v5's and a bucket of rust. Have asked for some feedback... let you know

Good work - keep is posted

Thanks folks. Had seen that one flagged up elsewhere... has gone to AVCIS, together with a copy of the reg itself, in case it gets pulled by the seller or Ebay.

Our first reported success.....

Received following from AVCIS this morning (and cleared to post on the forums)

On another note, we have had our first success. I visited someone who had taxed one of the ID's that sold on E-bay back in November. When we arrived at his house he had the number plates, vin plate and a tax disc proudly displayed on a totally different vehicle. We are in the process of trying to find out the true ID.

I've not been told to which actual ID this one related too, as suspect that is too sensitive.

It's a start.... please keep sending them in :)

Good news :clap2:

@ Martin1512...... your latest one sent on.... looks like full chassis though, so I wonder if the seller in theory would be in the clear, even though the buyer still can't use the age releated plate due to other missing key components

I think it's the buyers, rather than the sellers who are breaking the law when they use the vin plates on a different vehicle.

Though even where the vehicle could technically be re built using all new original components or whatever, it's blatantly obvious that this is not what's going to happen. Report away, i'd say.

It's really good to hear that not only s something being done but also that the police are starting to get results, well done.

Latest couple sent on to AVCIS.

It's great we've had some success and that AVCIS are taking our info seriously. All I'm doing is coordinating what gets posted up on here, LandyWatch and one or two other forums, so its most certainly an all round effort.:)
