Blue beasty, within breaking on ice, i think ABS isnt really helpful. But i think the HDC will help going down the hill, also the TC in wintertime will be pretty helpful. Am I thinking wrong?

Lived for a few years in Caithness being a southern softie was surprised how the locals up there drove in the snow they just seemed to slow down to about 60mph to get about. But it was good fun driving about in real snow

I thought that the ABS, TC and the HDC all relied on being interdependant and sharing the same sensor info.

Wouldn't that mean if you has no ABS, then you wouldn't have operational TC and HDC?

I don't know the answer to this - as mine are all working correctly - I know because I used them all today! :D

Traction aids are pretty useless on I've to be fair, abs just cont work out that do do and ends up sliding anyway, the safest way to drive on snow and I've is high gears and low revs and plan ahead don't change speed around corners and do everything smoothly that's the best advice

TC HDC ABS are in 1 compound. If the ABS WABCO Modulator fails, all of these 3 fails. Thats my problem. I searched for a new on on eBay, and the seller says: COMPLETE AND IN TESTED USED WORKING ORDER

Since im a German guy, is this a working and tested thing or is it just used and it used to work (sometime).

The picture was taken on 20 April in Italy! Nobody expected snow, and everyone had summer tires on. Such a good feeling when sitting in a 4WD!

Correct - no ABS, no nothing!

The most powerful computer in a car is your brain my friends

Errr.. No it isnt.. the most intelligent may be but the power of a moderate processor in a car controlling even the most basic of settings far surpasses the processing ability/power of a brain.

Back in the '70's of last century we used to go, in July and/or August, to Switzerland for our holidays, with the caravan to Silvaplana (near St.Moritz) and two years in a row, we got snowed in, around 30 cm of snow, 1st time in the middle of our stay so no problem, but the 2nd time it was the last day we were there and I had to leave to go to work again. With the caravan forbidden to go over the Julierpass so had to drive the car (Opel Manta A) and the caravan to Samedan and up the train there, just for a couple of kilometres to go down to 1.200 meters where the snow turned into rain. That short trip (for the 4 of us plus car+caravan) did cost me more as the entire trip from Belgium to Switzerland. If at least I had a FL at that time I would have been able to enjoy it but now, also as no dig.cameras existed no pictures of it either.

We´re getting snow in germany right now! Just went out to play a little bit, promptly got stuck, not because of the snow, because of a ditch. After some shoveling, im succesfully back!

Hi Woods,

Das ist eine sehr schöne Straße.

We have used the Plockenpass to get to Kranjska Gora - but only in the summer time - we came back over the Wurzenpass to Villach and the Faakersee. ;)

Very popular with the Harley Davidson guys.

Even in the Freelander you can get a lovely rhythm going on the hairpins - fantastischen Haarnadelkurven! :D:D
